OCTANE ADVISE
Very much simplified, (for guys like me what ain't got smarts real good)
the octane rating relates to the RESISTANCE of the fuel to pre-ignite. It does not give you any more power, but allows you to run a higher compresion ratio, and more advance on the ignition timing, which in turn keeps your engine from "pinging" (pre ignition) and detonating.
Please feel free to correct me if I have my facts wrong! I promise I will not take offence if you correct me! I am just trying to help out, but I do not want to give bad info out.
It's been a few years since I went to A&P school. (I am an A&P mechanic, with an inspection authorization.) Sorry guys, about all I work on now are General Electric jet engines, like the T700 (Apache and Blackhawk helecopters, CF34's, )BJ's and RJ's, A10 Warthogs, and Navy S3 Vikings) CFM56's for Boeing 737's, Airbuses, F108's (KC135R Tankers) F110's for Tomcats, F404's Hornets, and F414's for the Super Hornets.
But if you have a burning desire to make Darwin's award list, and strap on several thousand pounds of thrust to your car, let me know, I'd like to video tape it!
If you fly alot, don't worry about an infight shutdown with one ov MY engines.......but I still don't fly much!

I HAVE BEEN USING THE CORRECT OCTANE WITH THE TUNE, BUT HE MADE ME THINK THAT IT WOULDN'T MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE(PERFORMANCE WISE) USING THE 93 OCTANE FUEL/TUNE VS. 89 OCTANE/TUNE.

How could he think a bump in timing wouldn't help???? You sure this guy is an automotive expert, right?

I'm running a 93 octane tune right now. At first I was concerned about the cost, but once I sat down and actually did the math the cost increase is not much. In my area premium gas is 20 cents more per gallon than regular. I belive that's pretty much standard. With a 13-gallon fill up, that's what, $2.60? Pocket change. If you fill up once a week that's $135 for an entire year. If you think about it, a mod that delivers more power throughout your entire RPM range for only $135? That's one of the best deals you'll find on modding your car.
