I placed this in the audio section but not getting enough feedback.

I was trying to use one of the empty slots in the passenger side fuse panel. Spot 9 has a constant 12v source, key in or out. 5, 13 don’t' give out any power with key in or out. Any ideas? Read on this forum that there was one that only gave power with key in?

There are two empty slots, the one on the right is switched-I just used it to hardwire my self diming mirror and radar detector. Get a fuse adapter plug (by Little Fuse) at Autozone. Put the size fuse in you want and plug it in. There is a little pigtail wire coming out of it (the plug) for your power (if it doesn't work, pull it out and reverse it until you get 12V when the key is on. You'll have to cut a small slot in the cover to get the power wire out. Hope this makes sense-writing in a hurry.

 

Slot #5 in the passenger fuse box is switched with the iginition (on or off)

You mentioned with key IN or OUT, did you turn the key on before checking for power?

I'm using slot #5 for the remote turn on for my amp.

 

While testing for power on slot 5, I did turn the key all the way and stopped at the point of turning over the engine. Will re test this morning, and report back.

 

Ok, slot 5 is putting out power as you described. Hooked it up, and the fuse blew "5 amp". Put in a 7/12, but now windows won't go down and stereo comes on but no sound?

 

The fuse blew? What fuse? Did you add one? The slot I'm talking about is empty on my car.

Are you under the hood or inside on the passenger floor side panel. There are TWO fuse boxes on our cars.

The passenger side fuse box I'm talking about is inside the car, behind the trim panel on the right (where your feet go)

If your in the right box, then I'm at a loss on what to tell ya from here.

Yes, I’m working on the passenger side fuse box inside the car. Here’s what I’ve done so far.

1. Used the power cord that came with unit, cut off the end where it plugs into the 12v vehicle source
2. Grounded the negative of the cut end, and put a inline fuse connection on the positive
3. Used a fuse tap for spot 5
4. Connected and 5 amp and it blew, and then used a 7/12 and that is where I’m at now. No sound from stock radio even though its display is on, and no power to either window. And the Sirius radio doesn't have power either

 

I don't know what to tell ya...but here's how mine is set up

The remote turn on wire is forked into the left and right sides of the fuse slot...that's it.
Power cable runs to the battery, and its grounded in the trunk.

I just took the single wire, forked the wire by splicing a "Y" at the end of the wire. Put one side of "Y" into one side of fuse slot 5
and put the other side of "Y" into other side of fuse slot 5

I'm no electrition so try this at your own risk...

Maybe try forking the positive side of your power cable and grounding the negative to some metal. If you have an inline fuse on the positive side, it should be ok to try safely.

I'd find someone local who could help ya though. It's kinda hard to do things like this over a forum. I'm tapped out on ideas other than directly wiring to the battery and installing an on/off switch.

Well, I just re loaded the stock tune, and dropped her off at the dealer. Removed all wiring. See if they can find what the hell I did?
