lowering spring costs???

RE: lowering spring costs???
Ya know, I'm a conservative person, so, I really can't understand why you would buy a set of springs, before you knew what the install would be ? (or at least have a vague idea)
It's like buying a TV, and asking.......... How much for an apartment to put this in ? Can I get cable too ?
Labor rates will vary from NYC, to Miami, to LA,..... to the good 'ol boy shops on street corners. (and the expertise of installation) You might find a guy that "always wanted to install a set of them thar springs",........... for free.
PPL say, I'm stupid.............
WTF

RE: lowering spring costs???
well first of all, i do as a please, and when i please with my money. If i decided to buy springs before finding the other info then so be it, but if you must be a smart-*** about it, one of my friends was going to install them for me but hes moving out of town so he wont have the time.
I asked a simple question and I would like for it to be answered properly without any smart remarks. So like I asked earlier, what would be a reasonable price for my install?

Depending on where you are it might range from $200-$350.
If you have the time, tools and talent (don't need much - its fairly easy) then you can save the $ as Roper points out.
The rear springs basically fall out and can easily be replaced...you'll need a spring compressor for the front.
IMO, regardless - if you have not already - you will want to search the forum for info from folks who have just done the springs (i.e. related to ride quality, alignment, etc.).

RE: lowering spring costs???
drtc, Springs are not really hard to do, even the front ones. The biggest thing is to be careful, even with the spring compressors. There is a lot of force behind those things. I was a mechanic for a long time and change out many of them. I had a pair get away from me one time and got loose from the compressor and shot out of it and hit me in the chest. It felt like getting hit by a linebacker!
You can go to places like Advance Auto Parts and rent any of the tools you need. Just take your time. If you are hesitant at all, take it to a shop and let them handle it.
