Thinking about going topless
Ok... just throwin' out a question here to get some of you fellow Stangers opinion. I've been thinking about trading my coupe in for a convertible...sticking with 05/06 of course. I've been able to locate an 05 Satin Silver auto vert and an 06 Tungsten? auto vert. both listed at 28k (haven't negotiated yet). I'll be testdriving both tomorrow.
Money and the specific trade-in #'s aside (I'LL worry about that)...anybody care to give their .02 about switching from a GT coupe to a GT vert? The extra weight won't bother me too much as I'm probably never going to be going to the strip.
Watcha think? Vert ownership pros? Cons?

i have a 06 vert, love it - compensate for the extra weight with more boost
i really do love mine, if you would put the top down, buy it. I would get a stick though, no auto - thats just a personal opinion though
have fun on your test drives!

Only 'verts for me. This one is my third. The vast majority of car owners, even Mustang owners, don't race their cars. So the small handling/speed difference will go unnoticed by most. You just can't beat the fun factor of taking the top down on a nice day. All your friends want a ride, you get an easy tan, and if your looking for the extra stand out factor a vert is definitely the way to go.
If you like cruising you can't beat a vert. If you're gonna race it's a hard top. As much as I like the Mustang if it was only offered in HT I would be driving something else in vert.

I have owned many coupes, of differing types. I now have my first vert. Holy cow, it is AWESOME. I drive the car around on a nice day or evening just for the fun. My wife and I both have a blast in it. It just brings a smile to your face. Everybody loves it, everybody wants to drive in it on a nice day. For us, It is a third, fun car. I don't know how much I would want to drive it on a winter day.
Passed up the Gt coupe for the v6 vert... just put 18'bullits with the goodyear eaglef1 on
, Sig picture to be updated this weekend! I'd do it again. I dont care for the profile line of the rear windows on the coupes. The verts profile lines of the rear top and trunk are more like the 64,65 & 66 coupes. Gt rear profile lines are more from the later 60's fastbacks. I have a 66 coupe and the 05 vert looks alot more like its profile lines.

I love my vert and happy I didn't go with the coupe that I was originally looking at. If you do a lot of cruising, then the mustang GT vert is the perfect car IMO. That is a pretty good deal at 28k too. This is my first vert, but I might never own another coupe. I get complements every day, and don't think anyone would say that it's ugly with the top up. JMO
Good luck!
