Default Break in period

I was wondering what is the best way to break in my GT. I have been driving it like a grandmother for the first 500 miles. Once I hit 500 miles I have started pushing her a little more. I have taken her to 4000rpms a couple of times and hit 90 on the highway a couple of times. No burnouts yet but I have gased it a couple of times. I was wondering if I should go back to grandma driving till I hit 1000 or if it is ok to start pushing her a little more. Want to make sure I break her in right. Thanks

Picked mine up Weds 5/24, has 120 mi on it. Dealer told me vary RPM, but NO need to baby. Drive it like you intend to at 5000 miles with 0 miles. Ive gone thru the gears bout 4 times. Have not abused it, but definitley used it.
These motors are all tested to redline after assembly. They're pretty much already broken it.
Let er eat !!!!!

I agree, I was told the same thing by my dealer. My dealer said by the first 200 miles the motors are pretty well much broken in.

Thanks for the replies. Nice to know I can make her do what she was born to do. No more grandma for me.

Congrats on finally getting your baby Lejay. I know its been a long wait

I think I will go out and have some fun with her now, and not worry about putting a hurt on her.

There's already a couple threads on this and I had the same question. Basically just follow the owner's manual and don't run at one RPM for long periods of time. What happens is oil breakdown and glazing on the cylinder wall, and it happens both at running too fast for a long period or to slow. If you google it, there's a number of good technical articles out there if your interested in the chemistry and physics involved.
