Default Satellite Radio

Is anyone happy with just using the FM signal sent to the Shaker 500 from their satellite radio? Or is it mandatory that you hard wire it into the back of the radio? Thanks.

I'm fine with the FM Modulator signal sent to my Shaker. I've got a Sirius Sportster Replay.

I'm not real happy with mine (XM Roady)- I'm hoping to trade out the headunit this year for something which has XM integrated. I mounted mine directly to the front of the radio which was about the only way to get decent sound. In my area there are a lot of radio stations - way too many NPR'ish stations - about 7 at last count - most of which broadcast the same crap. But this takes away from the free stations which the radio can broadcast to. In my truck I installed an FM modulator which is hardwired to the nav system, but the sound quality there isn't great either. It will be interesting to see how the new Sirius option on the 07's sound and look. Hopefully the option will work with the Shakers from 05/06.

I have the hard wired Sirius setup. The sound quality is not perfect, but it is acceptable. I had no luck at all with the transmitter type systems as in my area there are no open spots on the FM band.

I removed the factory ant. from the front fender since I don't use the AM/FM radion anymore.

There are a number of options including a PIE interface, this allows you to connect just about anythng to the Shaker using the AUX button. But installation is a little work. The real issue is for lot's of folks finding a clear space on the FM band as previoously stated. In my area it's full and we have a lot of stations blasing in from Mexico as well.

There is a lot of info on this in the audio forum.

If you want to use an external XM system (which it sounds like you have,) I posted up this thread on how to do a complete install with no exposed wires & a professional look.
