2006 GT vs 2005 wrx bpu
Yesterday I was cruising around after my sister's graduation and saw this black 2006 stang and decided to catch up and do a fly-by just to see his reaction, then he catch up and had to stop in a stop light, I honestly thought he wouldn't race but he did and needless to say I got owned even at the launch.
How fast is that new Mustang Gt?

BPU = Basic Performance Upgrades
I believe the term was originally used for the second gen RX7 Turbos. Then the Supra camp started using it, and I guess now the WRX camp is, too. So far, it's exclusively used for Asian imports. Hopefully it stays that way.[>:]
And, davemurray, what in the world made you think you could beat the GT? The WRX has, what, 227HP? Adding just an exhaust and intake isn't going to cut it for beating a new GT.

I used to drive a 2005 Subaru STI. That is fater and handles way better than my 06 GT vert, but one of my mechanics has a Subaru WRX with an exhaust, a blow off valve and a few other tricks (nothing wild though). My bone stock GT vert eats that thing alive, especially on the top end. He has a slightly better launch with the all wheel drive but soon atfer the launch it is "bye- bye".
We all frequently race when we leave the shop together at the end of the day.

BPU stands for Basic performance upgrades.
I also have a 1989 GT and honestly was impressed by the new generation of mustangs.
The wrx runs high 13's, but I believe this guy must be at least a second faster but sounded stock.
I've raced 94-04 Gt's on my wrx, camaro's, Evo's, an never been beaten like this.
Gas prices keep my stang on the garage until the weekends, thats why I bought the wrx ( cheap, reliable, fast, awd )
As for the top end I was specting to loose after 60 mph but he even got me at the launch, cant wait to race that guy with my mustang.

The 03 WRX with UTEC and K&N filter (that I just sold) felt a lot better around the curves and it also felt quicker in the straightaway. My GT might catch up after a while but I'd say it would be a close call...

A stock GT vs a stock WRX or STI... the GT would be smoked in the corners. I'm owned one of each and the Mustnag I love, but it doesn't handle for crap unless you do lots of mods (compared to a WRX or STI).
As long as the road is straight I can get my buddies WRX, but no chance with an STI. (stock vs stock)
If a coener comes up... watch the Subaru leave you stranded.
I'm a Mustang lover, but facts is facts.
