Hi all, just thought I would drop in and say howdy to the forum. I'm kind of a car collector now and I have a couple of collectibles and a daily driver. For a little while I have been toying the idea of selling off the daily driver and buying something else a little more fuel efficient. My Ram right now is getting 13 mpg average. Anyways, I noticed the Mustangs so far have been holding their value fairly well. I guess the biggest question is will these cars be collectible someday? Also, how is the gas mileage on these cars. I don't drive very hard and most of my miles are highway miles at 55-60 mph with cruise set. I have my heart set on an 05 GT Convertible that's what I'm looking at for the meantime but, I don't know. I think they'll give me a bath on the trade-in of the my Ram so I don't know. Anyways, it's just an idea I'm pondering at this point but, not going to jump since my 04 Ram is probably worth 10-11k trade in and I owe oh about $19500 on it but, I can get that paid down somewhat. Anyways, just looking for a few suggestions here. Really like the new style of the Stangs.
WELCOME, trade the Ram, buy the GT, there is nothing better for the $, or personal driving satisfaction, or better looking.
I never really cared to chart mileage, my sticker said 18 City / 25 highway.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I do happen to own a 71 Dodge Challenger R/T Clone. I've had it for a year now. I got it somewhat disassembled for paint and bodywork. I'm kind of glad I bought this Challenger because they're not getting any cheaper and the new supposed Challenger R/T is going to be more expensive than the Mustang GT starting out in the low 30s for the coupe. But, anyways I've been a Mustang fan and came close to buying a used 01-02 Convertible a few years back but, I found out the Air Force was sending me to North Dakota so I've had several newer problematic 4x4 trucks. Anyways, I'm a little skeptical having a bad taste in my mouth from Dodge and Nissan on trucks so I hope if I do get a Mustang GT it will treat me well. Anyways, I plan on keeping it stock for the most part and if I do change anything it will be a drop in air filter. I'm looking at a Mustang because I will not be in North Dakota much longer and my Dakota Convertible is a bit small for me now and with my arthritis in my knees I know the Mustang will have more room.
I love convertibles, the white truck you see is something I'm considering trading to a buddy for the paint and bodywork on my Challenger. The white truck is a bit of an oddball. It is a factory convertible pickup truck and one of 2984 built in 1989 but, the thing is she needs a lot of work. I bought her and start trying to fix things and well at this point I don't want to sink a lot of money into her. She has roughly 150k miles on the original engine, tranny, and rearend with an underpowered 125hp V6 with 31x10.5x15 tires with 3.55 gears so yeah it's a little slow but, a nice truck to drive around town. On the highway I don't have overdrive so the tranny will need to be replaced. But, anyways I'm just looking for some answers on Mustangs. I know I've seen some nice 5.0 Verts on ebay going for $10.5k with low miles.
As for the Cobras I thought about that but, I have a feeling in about 20 to 30 years these 05-06 cars will appreciate in value because a lot of people just don't buy them compared to all the trucks, SUVs, and imports and because of the design. But, maybe I'm an idiot but, I really would rather have the newer platform Stang although a 97 Cobra Vert would be nice.
