hood ?
So i have been looking at a couple functional ram air hoods, the only ones i have found are fiber glass, when talking to other people and body shop owners no one wants to get close to these because of fitting problems, i want a functional ram air hood, but i cant find any that are not fiber glass, any one have any suggestions?

RE: hood ?
I asked at the body shop I was at today and they said they didn't like to mess with them because us car nuts like everything perfect and the fiberglass hoods out so far aren't up to par, that he has seen. He said they need to be made like the Vette hood to keep firm. Even if they make them look good they can't warranty them because of cracking and if they crack you have to take off the whole gel coat. He sugested adding a scoop or whatever to what existed.

RE: hood ?
well the thing is it has the hood scoop which forces more air into the engine, so that isnt the problem, the problem apperently with all fiberglass hoods is that they fit really bad, and they look like **** once they are on the car, does anyone kno if there are any non fiberglass hoods made?

RE: hood ?
There are carbon fiber hoods....I don't really know if that is any different than fiberglass. I got a pretty good fitting GTR hood off ebay for $350. It was not perfect...but the shop was able to make adjustments and now it's 95% perfect...probably as good as stock. It cost me $400 for install and paint. $250 was the paint job...so only $150 for install, adjustments, washer sprayers, etc. That's not too bad for a prof body shop. As a side note...the body shop did the install work but would not paint fiberglass...they outsourced that to a custom paint guy....who does artwork on cars and bikes and stuff like that. Shops are funny about fiberglass.
