Default First issue with car...

My wife and I came home sunday from a 10 day vacation. Yesterday morning I go out to the garage to pull the stang out. Hmm odd I must have picked up the wrong keys as the keyless entry doesnt work... Nope right keys. Car is dead, no juice at all. I had read that some 05-06 Mustangs trickle down the battery if it sits for a long while so I figured that was the problem. No neighbors home so I called road-side assistance for a jump. About an hour later the tow truck shows up and we jump start the car. At this point I am thinking my problems are over.

I take off for a drive to charge things back up, everything seems to be fine... at first. Voltage guage is reading normal and no warning lights on. Then after about five miles I look down and some of my warning lights are on. Battery voltage light, ABS, traction control, maybe others on. I look my charge gauge is reading below the mark on the left [:@] and I notice the trip computer says check charging system... lol. As soon as I see this she dies and I pull over.

Luckily about three cars back from me was the tow truck, he pulls in to see whats wrong. So, the stang gets towed to the dealer and after about a two hour wait they come out and tell me the alternator is dead and that they will have to emergency order one as there arent alot of 05-06 mustang parts on the shelves. The service guy also went on to tell me that this was "one of the first new mustangs they had seen in the shop". They always like to tell you that dont they? Even on POS vehicles that you know everyone and their brother are having trouble with, they are gooing tell you that.[>:] Anyway after some discusion they gave me an ugly **** 06 Taurus to drive, I guess they didnt think a new car with 1k miles should be broke down either. I was told Ill get it back this afternoon sometime, Ill just have to wait and see.

Lurch *edit for Leejay* I did indeed missclick and hit a 1 instead of a 2. The card had 2126 miles on it when it was towed. I remember exactly cause I had to sign a slip for it before it was towed.

There were alternators problems on 05s. First I heard of 06, maybe somehow, an older alternator ended up in your car.
The service guy didn't have to tell you anything, but, when he did, you assumed he was lying, or bs'ing you. WTF grow up.
BTW they didn't have to give you anything to drive.

With that few miles on the car its a great possibility it may just be a bad part. Nothing more nothing less.

Well the "assumption" came from the 4-5 times I've been there I have seen 05-06 mustangs being worked on. Not oil changes, not getting tires rotated, mustangs having work done to them. I know from this board as well as RL sources that these cars are being taken in for service. Also, where did I say they had to give me a car? Nowhere. I guess what I'm getting at Leejay is that you should "WTF grow up" and troll somewhere else.

That sux, Ive heard on some newer vehicles you have to be careful on how you jump em cuz you can blow fuses, I work at an Acura dealership, we had a new RL come in that was dying like your car, it wound up someone jumped the car improperly and blew a maxifuse under the hood (fuse was $45). That fuse controlled basically most of the underhood components, the alternator being one of them, even when they recharged the battery all of the idiot lights were still on and wasnt charging, after replacing the fuse, and recharging the battery everything was ok.

Hmm, they used a portable jump box to start it. He hooked up the pos. side and as soon as he touched the neg. the alarm sounded and had to be shut off. I watched him carefully to make sure he was doing it correctly, I've seen bad things happen to cars jumped incorrectly(not my own).

BTW, dumba$$,...... there is no such thing as an 06 Taurus.

"after some discussion they gave me........I guess they didn't think....... should be broke down either"
Sounded like you had to whine for a loaner. and got to the dealer with an "attitude"

Furthermore, you posted on 5/1 that you put 1000 miles on your car in less than a week, now today, you say it has a 1000 miles (5 weeks later) Either the car sat for 5 weeks, you can't read, or you're FOS.

Go easy on him Lejay, he's just a Newbie. But Lurch, you shouldn't be mouthing off so quickly to the people you're basically asking for help from.

You're right dtuna, I explained about the 05 alt prob, and also that the service guy was trying to assure him that everything would be OK.
I did take exception to the assumption that he was being bs'd. Again, the service guy didn't have to say anything, but lurch had to start a tirade about "they tell everybody a story".
