Red_Stallion - Yes I live in Edmonton. Nice ride you've got there! In regards to performance parts here. I am find that Canadian retailers are screwing us on American manufactured goods. Since our dollar was worth 60 cents I have noticed that Canadian retailers prices on American manufactured goods have not changed however our dollar is worth 90 cents now. I am ordering directly from the U.S. now Screw the Canadian retailers. I find the Americans better to deal with also.

281GT That has been my experience lately too, I ordered my Flowmasters locally from JB's on the south side(Edmonton). It took them 5 weeks to get them in! I was happy with the price ($350), but I will go back to ordering everything from the States. In my experience I have found that Customs is completely random in what they put duties on, it will come down to a luck of the draw. For example, I ordered a $120 intake for my last car and Customs charged me another $50, but then for a bumper, spoiler and side skirts valued at over $500 I was charged $0. I think when I do decide on what S/C to go with and when I am ready to purchase I will make a road trip out of it to get the parts either at Sweetgrass as someone had mentioned or directly from the supplier if it's 'close'. Frustrating overall, though, and I think it comes down to simple supply and demand, just not as big a demand for aftermarket performance so suppliers do not carry the stock nor do they offer price breaks associated with demand generated competition. But I did tell JB's straight out that they won't be seeing my business again.
Thx for compliment on the 'stang, I've attached a recent pic. What part of the city are you usually in?

blackfoot I didn't read your post well enough and I'm sure you mean Fort McMurray where all the work is

Red_Stallion - I live in the north east. I sometimes cruise between 118 ave between 66 st and Abbotsfield Mall. Often go to the south side also. That grey stripe looks good on your red Stang. Nice pic with the mountains in the background. In general JB's are a bunch of idiots. I got my gauges from Pro-Stock Performance on the south side. 51st ave. The owner is pretty cool but the other guy there is somewhat of Jack**s. If it's not some ugly old big heavy Ponitac he's not interested. Mopac on the west end isn't too bad to deal with but again their prices aren't dropping with the US dollar like they should. In many cases even with the stupid customs you are still better off ordering directly from the U.S. It's still cheaper and the Americans acutally seem to WANT our business.

Yeah Fort Mac is the place where the big employment boom is, though Calgary is rife with work too. Can't go a foot without a help wanted sign or work truck driving by with a now hiring sign on it.

I got my Flowmaster axleback from Mopac here in Calgary, got it for $333 plus tax, pretty pleased with that. You can avoid duty by and large if you shop at places that ship via USPS. It takes longer but by and large that's the best way to go. It costs typically $5 in handing from Canada Post and then GST but that's it. UPS will charge an arm and a leg if they can. I once paid $40 in brokerage and GST on a $60 purchase. :P

And as for the exchange thing, yeah I've noticed that too, even in electronics. Take the HD-DVD players for instance. $499US, same player here is $699. Umm yeah that's like 2003 exchange rates right there.
