Default line locks

well a while back everyone was talking about linelocks, i did a quick google to see if they have any kits out for the linelocks and one of the first results was this:

http://www.rpmoutlet.com/05gtjet.htm

do these look like a valid and reputable linelock system for the 05 gt?

There is no way I would pay $200 for that when you can buy (2) line locks for $40ea and about $20 in fittings and line and build your own system that has proven to work so you are still left with another $100 to spend.

That kit is VERY overpriced.

Like Shortbus said, all you need are a pair of line-lock solenoids and some fittings that you can get from any auto parts store. It will be significantly cheaper.

I think they are charging you a huge $$$ markup simply becasue this kit is "ready to drop in", but the parts themselves are cheap.

Exactly, there is only about $60 in parts in that kit. If you search this forum you can find instructions on how to install line locks.

Don't you need 2 solenoids? I only see one in the pic and one mentioned in their write up. I wouldn't mind paying a little more to have the lines all set as far as correct length and bend complete. Looks like no shipping and no sales tax.

Let me (us) know about the two solenoids though, please.

It has been said that it can be done with a single solenoid but most people are doing it with two and that is how I plan to do mine.

We're not talking a lot of $$$ here... I wonder if there is an advantage/preference of one option over the other. You're going with two,as I had seen out here in the forum... better you think than single?

I was looking at that kit that RPM outlet has. It's price is reasonable. Consider that brake system pressure can get well into four digits. You do NOT want a cheap selonoid handling pressure like that. If the selonoid were to fail it could fail at any time you are using the brakes, not just when you are using the line lock. If the selonoid were to fail you would still have the rear brakes however the pedal would go most of way to the floor in a case of a selonoid failure and the reduced braking power could be enough to send you into the back of a 1975 F350 or something equally solid.
Think of it this way, a cheap line lock selonoid is like a discount parachute. NOT a good idea.
