Like I said before not a big fan of water/meth. Its just a band aid. Total timing is set at 46 degrees at WOT on c16. Air fuel is a 11.8:1 flatline from the converter flash. One question for you. How did you achieve 18psi?

Most of you know that I am an avid KB supporter (even though I don't have one) and Tim and I have had conversations about this before - HEAT. Tim certainly doesn't need any collaboration from me but he is right on the money as usual. The saleen is an awesome street blower and as I have said in the past - the cost and fact the kit doesn't come 'complete' is the factor that puts it behind the KB IMO.

But when you start pushing serious boost (12+ - I personally think 14 is a GREAT achievment on the stock motor) this thing gets freakin HOT. I agree on a dyno and maybe a couple passes you could probably tweak more boost out of it with a meth kit, but it is a BAND AID fix and not a reliable solution IMHO. To each is own and birdieman certainly is not giving BS about the saleen but I think it's a matter of what you feel is the best route for power when you get into this level of hp. I personally agree with Tim and don't like the meth method but it could be done and that's what birdie was saying. The saleen is 'rated' for 24 psi - but I would never take it pass 12 personally when I could go other routes reliably.

Having said all that, I too would really like to know what exactly was done to make the saleen effecient at 18 psi.

Just my 2.5 cents

One question for you. How did you achieve 18psi?
I had to tackle several hurdles when I boosted my 02 S281E. To tune it I used a Maf tuner. First off, the stock Saleen E car motor had gaps in the manifold that needed to be plugged. Once I startd to hit about 13 psi, i was loosing boost pressure. Once the gaps were filled, i had 4 different prototype pullies made. I did this for ease of tuning, in that it allowed me to tune it with the pulley once I got the fuel curve right. Then there were belt slippage issues. I got through this by doing a little sandblasting on the pullies. This provided enough friction to prevent slippage. Then, there was the heat issue. The series V is less efficient that the series VI, so it would get hot fast. It wasn't too bad for shorter periods. But it needed help. So I was in the process of getting a water/meth kit for it. A friend of mine in New Mexico has a tuning business, and he had just done an E car like mine, with water meth injection, it was making a lot more power. My car was making just about 550 rwhp @ 18 psi. WIth the water/ meth, and a little more aggressive timing, I was expecting to see 625 easy. So, I took it to ford, and had them put an Eaton trac lock in it.(something I needed anyway). When I went to pick it up, it was no longer. They total'd it. Crashed it on the freeway; the tech decided to punch it in 3rd gear going 65 (it had a T56). He broke the rears loose, and the car went off both guard rails. So now, Im doing the same thing with an 07 S281E But with the series 6 blower, it is so much more efficient, that I know it can be spun fast, and still do quite well. You may consider the water/meth injection as just a band aid, but the fact is that it lowers the charge so much, it promotes tremendous efficiency. It just seems logical to me that you would try that first before ripping it apart. (I would)

Thanks guys, we run a very high end business here as we are mainly a porsche and Daytona Prototype racing team. We are involved in among other things, Drag Racing, Grand Am Cup, Grand Am Rolex, ALMS, NASA, and IMSA. We are usually racing somehwere every weekend so I am constantly traveling, and rebuilding cars. (fun stuff huh?) Our shop is modeled around a Nextel Cup or IRL teams shop so we can cover all basis. We build all of our own motors, do all of our fab work, and also paint and body. (we do a lot of that lol) We have the capabilities of building a car start to finish on site at our 45,000 sq. ft. facility here in Atlanta.

The Mustang drag racing deal with Kinetic is a new idea and we will see how that goes. So far we have been succesful on our first try at it but we are keeping our fingers crossed. Hopefully we will see all of you at Joliet for the NMRA/NMCA race on July 27-30th. I am looking forward to meeting everybody and sharing a beer and a burger!

i wish the dyno shootout wasnt in georgia. i would love to see these cars make pull after pull and lay down ballistic numbers. i think im going to quit throwing parties and drinkin beer every weekend so i can afford to sneak into the 11's all motor. but until i got some years under me in this car im not going nines to give up street driveability.
