Default noisy transmission

is it normal for the transmission to make clanking and clunking sounds when shifting? it genereally only does it at lower speeds, i drive my car pretty hard and i dont remember if it was there or not before lol, i hardly ever drive slow enough to be able to hear it either way... just askin is it normal

If you have a sh1tty or burnt clutch or if youre letting the clutch out too fast... yes. Otherwise... no.

Well, if you wore out the clutch then something could be wrong with it...didnt you have some transmission problems with putting into reverse while in forward motion or something?? And also, saying that you drive the same as always doesnt mean much when you just said up there "i drive my car pretty hard" ... if you drive it hard and youre abusing the clutch and dropping it before youre supposed to, it could be damaging it...or stripping gears..

Or it could just be the linkage...

I think you are just hearing driveline slack. To take the clutch out of the picture, drive along about 20mph and give it a lot of gas/let off/give it gas again. Is this the same clunk that you are referring to? I think these rearends have a lot of backlash set on the ring and pinion. Mine is quite clunky (along with transmission whine and grinding going into 2nd gear) that basically the same drivetrain in my 2001 has nad does not do. It does clunk some though.
