AVIC MIC

AVIC MIC
I suppose this question applies to any Pioneer AVIC owner, but, more so to AVIC-Z1 owners...
Just wondering... Where did everyone place the microphone in their Mustangs for the AVIC-Z1. Or whatever AVIC model you have, in general.
How many of you bought the steering wheel mountable control for the AVIC? The AVIC-Z1 is supposed to come with a mic, so I am not sure if I should get the remote or not. I don't see how it could become that difficult to reach over and hit "next." I guess it is more convenient to have the remote on the steering wheel, but I think it would get in the way for me. Any comments?

RE: AVIC MIC
i have the avic z1 it does come with a mic, my installer flush mounted it up in the center of the light console ceiling, found out that it was muffled and that the mic has to be exposed so they moved it down so it sticks out
i rarely have anyone with me, so i just left it, ( sticks down about an inch) the mic cannot be flush mounted, and i donot know of any other mic to use with the system
now i think i should have just used the clip on the visor like they tell you to do. goodluck

RE: AVIC MIC
I have the remote, put it on the lower left of the wheel. Sometimes I end up blocking the signal, so it is sometimes useful... probably be more useful when I learn all the buttons.
I have the mic plugged in, but still coiled up hidden under the drivers side panel... I will eventually mount it on the visor, but I am waiting till I have to remove/replace the driver A-pillar with my SOS pillar pod. Not planning on doing that any time soon.
