I do like the looks of the s197 better. I guess it's really a matter of preference, but I do appreciate all the opinions. If I want a car that will smoke pretty much anything on the street I'll buy the fox, but if I want something that requires a little less work looks awesome, and will still be pretty fast the s197 it is. I just have to get used to the power of a modular motor. I test drove a GT the other day, and I was not that impressed. The pushrod 302 seemed a lot stronger, but then again I did have a host of bolt ons for it. I just don't want to be dissappointed.

If you get an S197 and a TUNE you will not be dissapointed. I agree I test drove a MGT and I was like wow.. this is fast.. but not what I expected. I hated the throttle lag and the car felt a little heavy. (I mean yeah its faster than my friends 03 MGT but I was expecting supercar speeds from a stock tuned car, and it just wasnt going to happen.) Once I got my CAI and tune, I had to re-learn how to drive the car because the throttle lag was comepletely gone and it just seems like its alot faster. I love the way the S197 feels now and cant wait to get more mods!
(BTW when I was looking at a new MGT the dealer I was at had a 01 Bullit that I really, really liked. Perfect paint, black interior, manual, with a few mods. They wanted HALF of what I paid for my 06 MGT.. in the end I went with a Satin Silver on Black MGT Auto and I have no regrets at all, I absolutely love this car.)

The S197 is just a technically superior car. MUCH stiffer chassis, much better weight distribution, better brakes, better handling and it's not based on a 1978 Fairmont and the S197 looks like a Mustang should. On the other hand the fox body is a good basis to build a hot rod. You can get a really good bang for your buck out of a fox body but you have to modify the crap out out it which can also be a lot of fun.

Well Thanks for all the opinions....I went ahead and got a red '06 GT yesterday and I am very happy with it so far. I've pretty much built this thing on paper, so now all I have to do is go out and get all the stuff.
