More Paint Problems
When I bought my car, there was white paint specks over the car from overspray. The dealer did the right thing and got rid of the paint...so I thought. I noticed that there is still more overspray on the top of the car and on the high end of the back window. In addition, the dealership buffed way too hard near the spoiler and now I have a 6-7 inch long buff mark on the hood of the trunk. There is also a chip in the paint near the spoiler. There are also buffing scratches on the front hood, the trunk hood and the roof.
I went to a independent auto paint specialist that was recommended to me and he said that the paint was defective in one place, and that the dealership buffed the car with a dirty buffer - which led to the scratches on the car.
So I took the vehicle in to get looked at this morning at the dealership. The manager (not the service manager) stated that "you"ll have scratches all over a black car, it's just part of owning a black car" but that the trunk was indeed a problem. I have to take it in again tomorrow, and drop it off, to get the service manager to take a look at the vehicle.
This car is becoming a pain in my ***. I love driving it, but the paint situation has really soured me. I hope that the dealership nuts up and does the right thing, or this might be the last Ford I ever buy (also have a Ford Truck). Stay tuned.

Sounds like you just need a different dealer, not a different manufacturer. You cant blame a car manufacturer for some crappy dealerships, its not their Ford's the dealership effed up.
Sorry man, I know how it feels. The same thing happened to me with Toyota a while back. Car came with scratches, then they buffed them out, but buffed the entire side of the car, not just the scratches, leaving buff marks all over the left side. The car's a dark blue, and yes scratches are part of owning a darkly painted car, but that doesn't mean the dealer can sell you a new one with scratches already on it. Just hang in there and don't let them off the hook - make sure they fix the paint up to your standards, 'cause you shouldn't have to settle for a new car that's not in mint condition.
Ask to see the regional rep from Ford. Screw the dealer. get an appointment. State you case and see what happens. Most of time the dealer is not getting paid to handle these types of issues so they try to weasle out.

+1,000 the dealer hates it when you get the District Rep. involved .. trust me .. worked on Honda's and Auras plus other cars for 20+ years .. but the most with Honda and Acura...
take it back so many times they get sick of seeing you.. works almost EVERYTIME...!!! 99%

Met with the service manager and the aout body manager today. Interesting meeting.
Auto body manager looks over the entire vehicle - looks pissed off.
Asks me "When did you buy the car?"
Me: "Late May"
Him: "Let's see when the car was delivered here." Open the drivers side door, looks in the jamb, says to the service manager, "The damn car was sitting out in the lot for 4 months!"
Walk over to the auto body office, get an appointment to get the car fixed.
Ask what the process is going to be, he goes, "probably need to wet sand the entire car. Might be able to buff some of it out, but I'm thinking wet sand at this point. We're going to take care of you."
I was in my uniform, and he was a crew chief on Hueys in Vietnam, so we hit it off well. Hopefully he can back it up.

Wet Sand a brand new car? Factories apply paint much thinner than a typical body shop. If I was told they were gonna wet sand my car I would request the entire car be re-cleared after they were done ... I would think after sanding and buffing you wouldn't have much clear left ....
