Remember a post I couple of weeks back
When I posted about the Trans AM and Camero wars of the late 80's.with the Mustang and how I felt with the release of the Challenger and Cameroin the next couple of years will be the same.Somene said that the Camero wasn't a go and doupted it would ever.I said it was a forgone conclusion and the Media here in Detroit said it was already approved? Well here is a I TOLD YOU SO LINK Tres White http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...WS99/308050001

I saw the car at the 2006 Power Tour stop at English Town Dragway back in June. I asked the rep that was there with the car, "Does it run?" lol (....I had a few Jim Beam and cokes in me.) Then I said, "Hey, none of the body panels line up and that is one crazy looking interior. Is that suppose to be a back seat??" lol [sm=alcoholic.gif]
The rear tires on that thing were like 335's.

I doubt it will be out in 2008 they don't have an existing platform to base it off and they don't even know what factory they are going to use to build it if they do. I DO like the idea that there will be 2 V8's as options, one thing is certain thought that means the top of the line camaro will be upwards of 40,000 large, this will be the most expensive camaro ever. Most will be 6 cyl.

GM also approved the next generation of GTO only to completely cancel the run. I'll believe GM is making the next Camaro when I see it. As for me, I drive Mustangs now and will continue to in the years to come. It would be nice to see Camaros again. Just paint me skeptical.

I think the Camaro is coming, but seems like by '09 (late '08), the retro phase may be just about over.... no doubt it's a sweet looking car though. Ford plans to redesign the Mustang for '09 which will take away most of the "retro" look. Ford also has the Boss planned to keep pace with the speculated 400 hp Camaro SS. GM never confirmed or denied they would put the 400hp engine in the production car. Just in case, Ford will have the 390 horse N/A Boss to strike back. Many say that giving the Camaro 400 ponies, it would take away from the glory of the base Corvette.

I'm skeptical as well. Ford ate everyone's lunch with the S197. Dodge screwed the pooch with its 4-door retro-barges, and GM won't make it out of the blocks in time. As SilverR mentioned, this retro era has reached its peak and is on the way out in the next few years.

I just cant believe that GM can whip up the solstice and the G6 so fast, yet its taking them this long to build the camaro. i heard it will be a 2009 model !!!
COME ON GM YOUR THE BIGGEST AUTO PRODUCER IN THE WORLD. i would have expected them to come out with the camaro no more than two years after the new stang was released, but 4-5.... come on !!!

IMHO Retro will always be in. I love the cars from the 60's and early 70’s; therefore I love any well-done retro car. And I believe there are a lot of people like me. By the time I am getting another mustang I can also look at Chevy and Dodge. It's like the 60's and early 70's, only for us this time.
And I hope ford doesn’t change the 09 stang to much. Enough to be new, but not enough to screw up the lines they got going now. I am secretly hoping they’ll pull a 98-99 on us. Because DAMN the 99 looked a lot better than the 98.

I have been wondering what it is that Camaro drivers drive these days without the car to "express themselves"?
They are a uique combination of inadequacy complex with agression that used to buy beemers when they got older and some more money, but then beemers cost no more than Camaros these days - so maybe they just upgrade earlier...
It really did seem to service an important sector of the market - it was like getting rid of Volvos - how am I supposed to know how and who to avoid on the road if they are driving the wrong car?
