Default A CHILD AND HIS MUSTANG

After 5 weeks with my new GT and after reading all of these threads, I’m hot for speed. I’ve been planning all my mods and researching everything including forced induction, etc. It’s really comical.

So the other day, I hear about a local dealer who has a used SN197 Saleen induced vehicle on the lot. I decide to stop over. I’ve never driven a forced induction vehicle before, so naturally I’m looking forward to it. I’m also curious to compare its power to my stock GT.

So, I get a chance to drive the vehicle and at my request we search for open road. Soon I am at a light that leads to a freeway entrance

The children passes me naturally, and then slows down to 60 mph in the left lane. And of course, there’s no one in front of him in the left lane. The “big man” [read: child] and his Mustang just continue to cruise along. It’s a big city in daytime traffic. Before you know it, the open road is gone and that’s it. End of story. The salesman and I drive back to the lot.

So after that folly, I thought I’d put up this post and provide some advice for the child. I’ve got to believe that he reads these boards. It’s the same advice I would give an elderly person. A person’s age really doesn’t matter and it’s pretty simple. If you’re afraid to drive – DON’T or get out of the way. And YES, blocking the left lane with no one ahead of you because you are afraid that you would be the first to get a ticket means you’re afraid. So pull over and get out of the way!

What a smuck!!! Sorry, I meant to say asswipe!!! He doesn’t have to worry however. I won’t tell daddy.
Great post! I enjoyed the story, but I gotta tell you....move to the Seattle area and you'll find all sorts of idiots casually cruising along in the left lane. Doing so doesn't necessarily mean they're "afraid" to go faster -- more likely, they just have NO clue what the left lane is intended for! It could be possible that the young'n in your story just doesn't know the left lane is the fast lane, and that he should move the hell over if he's not going to go faster than 61 mph! This has quickly become my biggest pet peeve about driving around this city, and for that reason alone, I can't wait to move back to the Chicago area in a few months, where left lane cruisers DO get ticketed....or they risk getting rear-ended by much faster drivers if they're not smart enough to get the hell out of the way! Seattle area drivers just stroll along in the left lane doing no more than 60, even though there are countless signs posted on the left side of the road that say "keep right except to pass" as well as "slower traffic keep right". They even do it when nobody is in the center or right lanes, and they even do it with trailers attached (oh, and there are also plenty of signs that say trailers are prohibited in the left lane)!!! I've come to believe our local ignoramuses do it because they think they have a RIGHT to disregard all the rules of the road, and I think they do it intentionally to **** people off! Well it works...especially on those of us who grew up with Chicago drivers who seem to know the rules of the road....for the most part. I swear I want to pummel these idiots sometimes.

So anyway, great story.....and sorry for the rant. It's just too bad you couldn't open up that Saleen-induced car any more than you did.

+1 for seattle drivers lol! i lived there a couple years and it seems everyone drives like they're sightseeing. there's a couple different types of bad drivers, but in the slow and confused area seattle wins!

i dont worry about others, in that sense i just use common sense when driving and go around slow polks......but i do have three rules in my mustang that everyone has to abide by :

1.buckle up
2.hang on
3.dont complain

two more are no eating, and no booze (at all) or beverages without a cap/lid.

Is like one of those stories that go '{I was out in the jungle when the wheels on my canoe fell off. I then asked out loud. How many pancakes does it take to cover a dog house? The answer! Ice cream has no bones") Exactly.
