Tires - 16" VS 17"

Tires - 16" VS 17"
OK... My stock V6 Deluxe has 16" tires/wheels. I drive a lot (about 7k miles in the past 3 months for that matter) between pleasure and work travels. I expect the stock BF Goodies will be pretty worn in another 6 months or so. My fiance wants me to wait (and what the heck, I will) before I buy new tires.
I've been eyeballing the Yokohama YK520's and Pirelli (P 3000?) in 16" so I can keep my wheels. I like the Pony caps, but not the detailed areas I have to clean inbetween with my hands and a rag to get the brake dust off (whatever is left behind after a good spraying with a cleaner and high pressure rinse).
Most likely, I'll simply go with a new set of 16"ers and keep my wheels when my OE tires wear down... BUT....
I've also eyeballed a few wheel/tire package sets at Discount Tire (btw.. that is almost certainly where I will buy new tires and/or wheels).... and the only reason I would consider new wheels is if I were to go to 17".... SO.....
lol... here's my question:
What might I notice with 17"ers pro or con VS 16"ers??? Better mileage? Better handling? Anything significant or just minor differences?
EDIT: Stock BF Goodies not Bridgestone... It's been a long week. [8D]
