Default Curious if anyone else has....

I notice that when I get my 2006 GT up around 85 to 90 mph the steering becomes loose and when I hit rough pavement the car kinda goes where it wants to go..........my friend said that the front end is lifting up and I should probably get an air-dam.....

anyone else having this problem?

(sorry if this is in the wrong section....us newbies...!!!!!)

it is fine to post this here.

Unfortunately, I can't help you. My bone stock '06 GT does not do that. The faster I go, the better it feels like it's stuck to the road.

It really should not be doing that. Have you checked your tire pressures? I would probably give the front end a visual inspection to see if anything seems loose or out of place. Then if you don;t see anything, complain to the dealer....that's what warranty is for.........although, they will probably just use the standard dealer line and tell that they couldn't reproduce the problem LOL.

Did that...nothing seems out of place...but I will probably get down to the dealers on Saturday ta see what they think....

The faster I go, the better it feels like it's stuck to the road.
That's how I thought it would feel but it's completely the opposite......at least now I know that I better have them check it out...thanks

for replying so quick

much appreciated

you didn't show your sig so I don't know if you have mods that would hurt handling at high speed. My GT loves that 85-90 speed on freeways. I feel good control, traction and plenty of pickup in reserve.
The hood usually doesn't start to swell up until I get over 100 and the front end gets a little light at about 115-120. Would have to agree with checking your cold tire pressure.
Let us know what the issue was when this gets diagnosed. Good luck!

No issues here either, even before the suspension mods. As a matter of fact, I did a 5 hour round trip today on the autobahn and I was running 135mph+ there and back with no issues. Hell, my hood even stayed put most of the way...

I don't know if I'd be driving 80 to 90 mph over rough pavement. A lot of bumps will cause the front tires to lose some traction. If it's really bad, then it may be the front shocks.

i know exactly what youre talking about. and i think it might be from our stock tires, since they are so meaty. Mine does that as well. when i go over a bump or a crack, the car hops towards that direction slightly. very scary while going 80 or 90. I think slightly bigger rims with lower profile tires and a suspension overhaul will fix honestly i think the handling on a mustang kinda sucks. I mean, its good for stock, but coming from driving my brother's audi S4, theres no comparrison.

Yep i know what you are refering to as well. My car does it also but it has ot be very large bumps for it to do this. I have noticed though that since loweinr ghte car and going to the larger wheel it is not as prominent as it was with the stockers.

As the previous owner of an '83 and as an owner of an '88, I can assure you that the S197 Mustangs have unbelievably great road manners by comparison. They are not perfect, the live rear axle will always provide a thrill now and again, but Ford made the decision to stay away from the IRS, which IMO was the correct choice. Rest assured knowing that nothing for under $30K has nearly the handling / power combination that these cars have.

(No, I haven't had my car up that fast. I probably won't very often either.)
