My car got baked?!
There is absolutely no reason it cannot be done correctly with a touchup gun. Prime, base. CC. What's the big deal? Just because it's in the engine bay it's ok to grab a spray can and spray over bare steel? I have doubts that all the brake fluid is realy cleaned off the area to be painted; what did they use to clean it with? If they sanded the area at all w/o throughly cleaning all fluid residue away first, the chances of anything not peeling are 0%.
BTW, what color is your car?

BLACK!!
i talked with the general manager today and he was trying to be apologetic. i think he has just realized that i have him by the ***** and all i have to do is call the owner. anyway, i also told him that i have 5 years for the paint to peel back up if they didnt do it right, i would bring it back in for them to do again. he also basicly admitted that the brake booster, master cylinder, et cetera wasnt removed the first time because he told me that it rattled when they removed it yesterday and they ordered a new one, which i verified with the parts manager who i happen to know. i also told him i was POed about the fact that HE told someone to spray paint it, then proceeded to do it after he was told not to. i talked to him about the fuel pump issue, tsb 6-9-9, i told him it is not a recreatable issue because you can do the same sequence of events the tsb refers to 20 times and the hesitation may happen once. anyway, he told me he would look further into the tsb and get back to me on it.
hopefully he will be a man and fix everything right now that he knows i am not an idiot.....hopefully

WOW!! What a miserable story. I hope they get it fixed up to your satisfaction.
I am unbelievably paranoid about taking anything I own to any paint shop because it is NEVER perfect afterwards. The unfortunate thing is 98% of the people out there are perfectly happy with shoddy repair work, after all "It's just a car". So the other 2% of us have to deal with shops that don't give a rip about quality.

ok, black, yeah the easiest color for the ole spray can. Good luck with this, sounds like you just need to keep after them (which is too bad) but you should be happy when it's all said and done.
oh BTW. love your TRed Conv. Spolier DELETE is Awesome!!!!! Next do the mirrors and WOW!!!! Great look you have there!!!! I love it. ...Jim

i will be ecstatic when my car is done right. i am a very grateful person when people do things right. they replaced my positrac clutches 2 weeks ago and even though i was POed at the general manager i still thanked him for doing a good job on it. i give credit where credit is due but i also expect the job is done right.

Love the flames on yours, I think I said this to you in another thread but my Harley matches your 'stang!http://www.treswright.vervehosting.c...high-res-2.JPG
That's right. I remember the Harley. It's traditional 50's 60's hot rod flames. I may just be partial to the clean look. Plus it's pretty rare especially in a GT vert. ...nice to be different, even right out of the box. Ducktail is pretty clean though; but there's no hurry; and you may not want to drill holes in that beauty. If you need info on mirrors (removal/sanding just let me know; you won't need to bring the car in the shop; just the mirrors. ...maybe a CDC Classic CS at the same time (lol)
well i got a bit of good news today, they decided to go ahead and paint the entire fender and replace the fuel pump. its funny how things work out when you know someone at the dealership and call the owner
i am still going to call ford customer care becvause this entire situation has been rediculous and i would hate for it to happen to anyone else, especially those who dont know any better
i should have it back monday, they are still waiting on the fuel pump and brake booster

With black you should have no issues with color match; just whose clear is better. If you feel it's off much you can have the fender and adjoining panels buffed by a pro with a rotary buffer. Possibly sanded with 2500-3000, but OE clear is not that thick so it's needs to be a top notch shop. Good news, you are getting places withthem now. Good Luck overall!
