I know, I'm really into cars and so is my dad.Hes been drag racing and working on them all his life aside from his job,he has a 69' ss camaro with a GM 502 crate motor, a 69' dodge superbee with a 440(used to have a sixpac setup, but took off because it runs better with just a 4 barrel) , and a 66" mustang with a 302.So his love of cars is another reason i have what i have

But the point of this post is that I am just sick of people who gripe at 16 year olds driving new model mustangs.Yes I am very thankful my parents got it for me, and I pay for all the mods, and drive responsibly and I know I'm im not invicible just because i drive a fast car.Yes, I am well off, but what pisses me off is people coming up to me and saying, "You little rich .........(whathaveyou)My point is, I'm tired of people making people making all these assumptions and giving teens bum raps for driving new mustangs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you trying to say your parents gave you a $26,000+ car because you're "poor"? I'm sorry but I call an apple an apple. And saying you pay for your own mods is like saying you pay for the gas. It's a drop in the bucket compared to the big picture. But hey you're young, immature, and I don't expect you to understand. Which is probably why us "old folks" entertain you by replying to this thread.

BTW enjoy the car and I hope you're serious about driving responsibly because you're the one who will foot the bill if something bad happens, and all the money from mom/dad, etc. can't replace a life lost from some stupid street race.

PS I hope you drive better than you maneuver message boards...ie spelling, double posting the same topic..etc

No, I Dont Think You Get What I'm Saying, BTW, before you go off the wall about me being immature and stupid, and saying that I street race and use the car inappropriately, yOU HAVE NO RIGHT to say such things when you dont even know me. BTW, i havent even had the car over 75 mph so, dont start stuff if you dont know about it.

i got my gt around my 18th bday, and daddy paid for most of it.

HOWEVER, and this is a BIG however, 16 year olds shoul NOT be driving a brand new 05/06/07 gt period end of story. no matter how much driving experience you have or how good you or your intuition is, you WILL fu(k up the car, you WILL race people in it, you WILL endanger yourself and others, and you DONT know your or your car's limitations. I know I didn't, and I still don't think im beyond that point now that im 20 and have 75,000miles of driving under my belt, much of it aggressive.

I'm finally discovering the reality of how dangerous a car can be, esp with 300+hp, and why old guys with vipers drive 5under the speed limit. I understand why I got shlt for having my gt, and what it means to really value a car. These are things that a 16yr old, NO MATTER WHAT, cannot fully grasp due to their experience. I have been in one fender-bender that never got reported, and have been pulled over 10 times with one ticket that i fought and won. I consider myself one hell of a driver, and i know my stang very very well. with all this said, there is no way in hell that i should have even be given/driving my stang when i was even 18.
Why not? i drive the mustang just like i drive any other car, caustious and responsible. Like i said before, not every 16 year old gets a new mustang gt... i treat this thing better then i treat myself...... I drive slow and careful, i park away from everyone else. Being 16 is a big factor to how you'll drive, because most of my friends drive like idiots but i do not.

Theres a time and place for everything, the street not being one of them. Sure i do some things like those burnouts you guys have seen and a couple of those fly bys but those were on secluded roads that i know very well, actually theyre closed off roads.... well with the exception of the burnout in the neighborhood, but whatever.

I pay for my gas, mods and TIRES. I work two jobs, i work all the time. I did not pay for my mustang though, i bought myself a 1991 Nissan 240sx as a second car which I am currently making into a project beging funded BY MYSELF.... So at the age of 16 i have 2 cars, but i damn well treat these cars with the upmost respect, i treat my Mustang like a Ferrari and my 240 like a Porsche. Honestly, to be handed a 300hp car at a young age does sound stupid especially when you have no prior driving experience(me) but i think if you fear the car like i did you won't do stupid stuff, now i respect it and drive like grandma. never did i once come close to crashing or I myself put myself in that situation.

When it comes down to it, its all about the drivers level of respect and INTELLIGENCE/common sense. Yeah also, I didnt beg for this car my dad just noted my work and decided to treat me to something nice and not have to go through the hassle of me buying my first car.

Ok I don't want to start anything again because I have been through all of this before, BUT I have to disagree with you there. Just because a teen has a powerfull car does not mean he will use the power he has on tap anytime he wants to and any place he feels the need to. Most teens, YES, they will screw up their cars and race and endanger others, but there are the rare few that don't. I do however agree with not knowing one's limitations and a cars limitations, because that only comes with experience. Sure we might get in a few fender bender's but that is part of the learning experience and that is almost always going to happen. I'm not at all saying that we won't go fast(because I would just be lying), but I would never go really fast unless I was out in the desert or I was in a place where I could not harm anyone but myself.

I gave my GT away because I knew how much power it had and because I have so much respect for it, I didn't want to take any chances with it. Anyways I hope you enjoy your GT and just remember to respect the heritage of the Mustang and to respect yourself and others who drive around you.
