Default FORD'S NEW CEO

Just saw on the early morning news that Bill Ford stepped down, and Alan Mulally was hired from Boeing to take over. He is being paid $18.5 million to take the job, and an annual salary of $2 million. He also gets something like $9 million if they fire him before 2011. (from what I can remember about the story.) The guy's 61 yo.
Just wonderful, they are losing their *****. So they spend $20 million bux, for 1 person to solve the problem ? Makes no sense.

Read the articles before you slam on your judgement, please.

Bill Ford is not leaving the company. He's just stepping down from that position to bring in somebody with actual experience on sinking ships. BF is not the man for the job, at least he admits it and wants to work on the problems within Ford. Even if that means bringing in new blood.

it is called big business, in the over all picture 20 million is not much to ford, if this guy can turn around the company and bring in a profit of 100 million, well that is 20 million well spent.

Hopefully, the new CEO will stop the bleeding... if he can do it, it's worth the money... BTW, he's not being paid A LOT of money as far as CEO's go.....

Yea but the new ceo has not prior involvvolment in cars kind of a bad Idea in my opionin, besides before he was dealing with 40 million dollar planes..... i think it would be a bad idea and would be a hard transition for him to go from 40 million dollars to 16,000-40,000 dollar cars

Am I FOS, but, didn't Tommy Lasorda take a "big time " job @ Chrysler ? Total sports background, with that ugly mustached dude pitching product ?
I feel teamwork and innovation, sells cars... "not more degrees than a thermometer" Looks like (This new guy fits that mold) IMO
I remember, however, when FORD tossed Lee Iaccoca for downsizing the MUSTANG, and he went to Chrysler, and turned them around with mini-vans and "K" cars. (I think Lee replaced John DeLorean)
