Intalling new door speakers ... should I use sound deadener?

RE: Intalling new door speakers ... should I use sound deadener?
dmhines - While you have the door panels off, go ahead and put some sound deadner on the underside of the switch plate and that removable plastic piece behind the door pull. I had noticed some vibration in those areas before, so I used some leftover scraps, and now no more vibration.........
Johnnie D - Are the speakers hidden under the carpet/felt? If so, maybe the carpet somehow lift up somehow? I think the rear deck is welded in there..........

yeah i was back there fiddling last night and they are under the carpet...the problem is the carpet is molded and it slip under all the plastic back there so i really dont want to start stripping the interior if I dont have to...looked in the truck and no good that way either [:@]

Bummer ... looks like Ford is cutting costs ... How much could speaker grills cost in bulk? 10 cent each?

I Have the shaker 500, when I put sound deadening on the doors it really didn't make too much of a difference. These doors are a bit unique since they already have an enclosure, I think doors that are just open air would benefit much more from deadening. The biggest difference was from putting weather stripping around where the plastic hits the metal door, as well as on any spots where pieces snap into the door. No rattles and it sounds much better at high volumes.

Thanks .... I was actually thinking about putting some mat on the back of the door panel and around the sub to prevent the vibration. Once I get it apart and see what it looks like I'll come up with the final plan ...

You'll see it's pretty obvious what areas could cause vibration, fortunately the door is basically just a plastic panel so it's not too hard to get it right.
