ground clearance
What do you guys think is minimal ground clearance for a daily driver on good roads? I have been considering drop spindles. I have found a 1.25 and a 2 inch drop. Will a drop spindle effect ground clearance more, or the same as a drop spring?
As far as what is a good ground clerance, depends on parking lot speed bumps etc so i cant really say, but Drop spindles are one way of lowering a car and retaing the stock suspension and stock ride. Also you dont have to screw with bumpsteer and the like normally. Using springs and revalved struts etc, lower the car, improving handeling and depending on springrate etc, can lead to a harsher ride. You also sometimes have to deal with geometry changes etc with the spring option. I'm no expert but I hope this helps some.
The fact that drop spindles do not neg effect the handling is exactly why i want them. The springs upfront could stay but the rears will have to be new 2" lower to equal out. Thus the rears will need to be a good bit higher spring rate with dampers to match. So likely will need higher spring rates all round with dampers to handle them. Only the fronts will maintain stock length with the spindles dropping the 2 inches. Measuring the clearance from stock a 2" drop doesnt leave much clearance. And if you add a body kit the clearance will drop further but would LOOK amazing.... The Cervini Elenor kit says front clearance = 5.5 inches - 2 inch drop =3.5 inches[sm=icon_rock.gif]
