Default Auto Trans Leak? I hope not...

Took my Torch Red '06 GT auto out for a "spirited" drive yesterday for about 120 miles. Lots of stops at stop signs (rural) and then WOT blast for fun, running through the gears. Still can not remove grin from face! Anyway, g0t home and parked the 'stang in the garage and admired it, looked underneath to see how many bugs/grasshoppers I hit and what did I see? Red fluid hanging from the bellhousing and a small spot on the floor about the size of a half dollar coin. NO!!! I got on the net and search this group looking to see if I can find anything. Sure enough I found a couple of threads that indicate the autos may come from the factory a little over filled with trans fluid. This overfill shows itself by coming out of the vent tube on the top of the trans and dripping on the bell housing after the trans has been heated by WOT runs.

The next day after it cooled completely, I cawled underneath it and looked and sure enough I could see where it had run down from the top of the trans. There was not much fluid and I cleaned it all off. Took the car out again and drove about 15 miles and took it easier on it. Parked in the garage and so far (fingers crossed) I have not seen any fluid on the bell housing or the floor. I thought for sure when I first saw it that I was going to have to take it into the dealer.

Has this happend to any of you? How common is it? I another thread they stated they removed a small amout of fluid from the trans to prevent this from happening again.

Backed my car out of the garage and noticed a few good-sized oil leaks, too thin to be engine oil. I took my 2005 GT w/Auto to the dealer and they claim mine is the first one they've seen with this problem. The dealer replaced the gasket and hose from the transmission pump and the leak is gone.

Mine was leaking at 400 miles. The dealer replaced a seal.

I will keep an eye on it. It has not leaked since I cleaned it up. If it does it again I will take it in for warranty work and have them check the seals.

I had the same problem back in 05. I went in like 4 different times. the first time they told me it was overfilled from the factory the second time they replaced the vent tube the third time they replaced some type of check valve none of this stuff worked each time after a hard run I would see a drip starting to form on the bell housing of the trans. and on the two pipes beside the tranny. They finally got it right and it has been right for a long time I saved a copy of the ticket for other people like yourself who might encounter this proplem.

I guarantee you it will leak again but only after a hard work out. Don't let them BS you and try to get by with the fixes like were tried on my car. Every fix that was done to my car was recommended by Fords tech hot line. So if they say that they fixed it put it through some heavy work outs after the fix. You should also print a copy of my ticket and carry it with you to the service dept. next time when it does start leaking. Please respond back to this thread after you get your car fixed so if somebody in the future that has this proplem can do a search. I feel like I was the first with this proplem in 05 nobody had any answers that could help .
I see you also own a 89 Mustang I am getting ready to start a complete resto. on my 89 GT.

I will do that.

I ordered my 89 LX 5.0 5 speed and it currently has 67,000+ miles on it. Only drive it on sunny days, same as the GT. "What should I drive today".......

Good luck with the Stangs. I actually just bought my 89 for $1,000 it has high miles but that won't be a issue when I finish with it now all the money is going to be dumped into the 89. It's hard to believe for the 25th year Mustang all Ford did was put the little Mustang emblem on that you need a magnify glass to see 25 years.
