Hey just got a quick question... I was on my way home the other night and I was on the highway so I had cruise control on. (I was cruising at about 75) I tapped the brakes to take off cruise control so I could pass a slower car, when I stepped on the gas, I got to about 80-85 or so and then I got this flashing wrench light on my dash and it was like the car just lost power.. I started slowing down really fast and the rpms dropped down from like 4500 to about 750. So I pulled off the side of the road and shut the car down and then let it sit for a minute and cranked it back up. Worked perfectly with no trouble lights or anything... Anyone know what happened? I tried to use my tuner to check for error codes but all is well (or so it says). Should I be worried and what could have caused this? This could be pretty dangerous if there would have been alot of cars around me because I had no control over the gas at all and I know I was slowing down really fast and without brakes, so someone behind me wouldnt see any brake lights. Im pretty sure if there was someone behind me they would have hit me. Any ideas guys? Thanks

 

About a month ago, i went to pass a slower car, and I lost all power to my car too. But mine never started back up, had to call road side. mine ended up being an emission control sensor i believe. dont know if that helps at all or not, haha

 

Your car went in to limp home mode, it happens it was proabably just a fluke.

 

hit your emegency flashers as soon as you recognize the problem if it happens again.

 

O trust me I did, but people here are freakin dumb as hell so they probably would hit me anyways. I swear sometimes that 75% of the people driving are illegal immigrants and have no licenses.

But no one knows anything that could have caused this? I really dont wanna have to take it to the dealer cause I know theyll just blame it on the CAI to get off the warranty work..

 

Man you described a bad situation, "as if you didnt know". You must also live in San Antonio to be as worried about all the illegal aliens as that. Here weather there legal or what ever, your chances of getting killed by a dumb **** with no insurance and of course no license is high. Brake lights, or flashers, and especially turn signals are unknown to most of the slugs here. So I hope this is not an on going problem. The only time I ever saw the wrench light was once when I punched it in first then hit second. I dont remember it running any different, but the light was only on for a second.

But your exactly right about the possibility of getting slammed in the rear"so to speak". I think it would be worth while to put your stock air box on and change your tune to stock, them make Ford fix it asap!

 

There were some TSBs on the throttle position sensor but I would have thought they fixed that problem by now. Don't worry about the tune or the CAI. I didn't worry about that when mine did it. Mine was just a dumb mistake to open the hood when it happened. The air filter fell off the CAI and totally shutdown the car. I had it towed into the service shop and they did not question my setup.

And nah Warlok, I live in Florida [&:] where 25% of the population is illegal and it shows. I constantly see vans and big trucks packed with around 12-15 people or so... its getting really bad here. I imagine most of the border states are the same way.. O and the blinker thing, yea... no one knows what those are here, but I love my blinker cause I have the sequentials so it shows off those pretty chasing lights. [8D] And yeah.. Im just curious as to what caused it to go into limp mode like that, so I have been taking it easy especially on the highway. People like to get up right on your *** here, even if youre doing 75-80 .. Im waiting for some of these people to just slam into someone one day and cause a massive pileup. Thats one thing I really hate about Florida, our drivers ed sucks *** and our driving test practically doesnt exist.

05blue, I dunno when those TSBs were, but my Stang was made in 01/06 if that helps any?
