Default Sturt Tower Brace Installation...

I installed my strut tower brace over the weekend. It's the Ford Racing one and it DID NOT clear my plenum cover. I had to install 3 or 4 washers and it still didn't clear the cover...it actually rests on my plenum cover now. RPM Outlet does not except returns so I decided to keep it (obviously).

Is it bad that my STB rests on my plenum cover? I don't care if the cover gets scratched because I don't plan on having the cover on without the brace...so you can't see underneath the brace. Let me know what you guys think. It's amazing on how nothing ever goes right with this car. It looks cool and at this point I really don't care if it helps performance wise.

Hey? Does the strut brace make a noticable difference? I cant decide on one.

My stb is exactly like, but not made by FRPP. It actually clears my cover, but not by much. What you need to be aware of is the fact that if it is already hitting, when under hard acceleration the engine will twist and hit it even harder. I don't think I would leave it that way if it is already touching.

Well...the way it's on now....I don't think it will let the engine move. I don't know if that's a good think or bad thing. As for noticing a difference...I haven't noticed anything yet because I haven't driven the car since I put it on.

That is a very bad thing. The plastic isnt going to stop the engine from torqueing over it is going to break, and it could take your intake manifold with it.

Is the intake cover something you added?? If so, you should remove the intake cover (plenum cover).

As stated not only will that brace crack the cover, it may also damage the intake.

The plenum cover is after market from Mid West Auto Gear it's custom painted black and silver (looks nice). But...I THINK... if I'm going to get rid of one of them...I guess it's going to have to be the Ford Racing Strut Tower Brace. The plenum cover makes the engine bay look better. They both cost me 200 dollars.

I'm hating my car more than I'm enjoying it.

You can change the motor mounts and lower the engine a tad. That will get you the clearance you need.
