If you look really close, it doesnt appear that the paint matches. Maybe the material it's made of. Cool idea, but something to think about.

I'm I the only one that thinks this?

This is the prototype not the actual end material they'll be using. I also don't believe that the paint job he applied on this is of the same quality you'll end up seeing from your bodyshop. He went through the process of installation of this by himself documenting it for the installation instructions, and notes that the temp install used 3M tape as he couldn't leave it in permanently as the material the prototype is made from warped in the Florida heat. He assures us that the final material is a smoked black material such that it will look like tinted glass so you have an option of leaving it as is, or having it painted. He said they researched the material used and know that it will hold up to painting well and not warp in the heat.

I've already pre-ordered and am waiting anxiously for this so that I can complete my retro transformation.

Well props to Silverhorse Racing... they look excellent, theyre definately more retro than any of the other louvres out now. I would probably do these if I wasnt doing scoops.. that and the fact that I am very reluctant to do mods that I cant undo...

Oh you could undo it, but you'd have to have the window put back in by a professional me thinks. I read the whole thread and from it I got that the windows are basically glued in there with a goop all around the glass. you have to cut through this goop then use some fishing line or similar to slice through the goop around the window. I'm sure you must remove all the excess goop to properly install the louvers. (i'm using goop for lack of the proper term)

As far as painting goes, you can paint just about anything with the proper primer and paint. I wouldn't worry about the paint not matching because of the type of material.

These guys were in Birmingham over Labor Day and I bought the black honeycomb panel from them. I am very happy with the fit and finish of the panel. They had the protype for the louvers there and they looked good. My wife didn't want to preorder them so I didn't place an order. I think the louvers will be very nice when they are produced.

Now these are what the louvers should look like. I'm just not crazy about plastic window louvers sticking out on the window. It looks cheap. Damn I know that is going to offend people but it's my honest opinion.

I think these are the best looking set out there- and 'least likely' to ever blow off, as they are mounted in urethane same as the factory glass...but yeah installation will be way more involved than cleaning and sticking them to the glass...seat/interior panel, etc gotta pop out, then theres the whole glass removal- Marcello put up step by step instructions for 'how to' here:
http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showpo...&postcount=411

while not as easy as a decal, still not too bad. about the paint he had mentioned that the prototype was shot with a spraycan just to toss in in the car so all us whiners could get a look at what to expect 'installed'- I for one like it a bunch...I'd asked a couple months ago about providing precut vinyl masks- he said that was already in the works, so painting would be relatively easy.
I'd expect Ford to offer either a similar piece in coming models unless the quarter glass goes away all together- I'm still torn between these louvers and filling the holes with steel and repainting...the louvers would be WAY cheeper- heres a pic of a photochop i did on a early 05 daydreaming about how I wanted mine to look:
