Default What Does The Throttle Lag Feel Like

I see alot of people complaining about the throttle lag in the 05+ Mustang's. I'm just curious to see if mine is having this problem. When I get on the throttle, it does accelerate but after about 1-2 seconds it starts pulls noticably harder. I was thinking that its just the motor getting into its powerband.

Yep, all of em have this problem. 05+. Throttle lag is when you hit the gas and it doesn't accelerate or anything for a second or so and then BAM all of a sudden it down shifts(automatic) and speeds up. In your case, if you smash the gas and it just sits there like nothing is going on and then it accelerates.

From what I've read in some posts, you can get rid of it with a tune.

I just wish the tuners weren't so damn expensive, the damn things are more than my car payment.

Throttle Lag is Ford's way of telling you your Mustang may look retro but it doesn't have a carburetor under the hood ....

Tuners will NOT get rid of the THROTTLE LAG. I hear however a Tuning shop can though, thats what I hear. Read my CAI and tune review on the front page I think it still is.

"It feels like . . . a bag of sand."

Whether custom or canned, a tune will definitely go a long way to mitigating throttle lag. I am currently running a custom tune and my throttle is incredibly sensitive and responsive, but even with my Brenspeed tune I had a huge improvement over stock.
