Not necessarily, I had my windows tinted 2 months ago and they're still in perfect shape. No scratching at all.

My windows were tinted back in April, and no felt or moleskin was added. There is absolutely no scratches anywhere on either window, and they get rolled up and down alot. It is not necessary if you buy quality tint and have it done by someone who knows what they are doing. The window seals on the Mustang are no different than any other Ford, and I don't have scratches on my Expedition or F350 either, and all are limo tint.
