2007 Shelby GT
Ford has announced that there will be a 325 hp shelby mustang gt, it looks like a consumer version of the shelby gt-h. The announcement is on www.svt.ford.com in the news section, wounder how much they will go for??

I just don't see why it has to be "limited" production. The best thing Ford could do is offer all these goodies(CAI, exhaust upgrades, suspension mods) and make them options on the regular GT(factory fitted, that is). I've heard $35,000+ as well.....which means $50K when they hit the showrooms.......well, I guess us "regular" GT owners will just have to be happy we didn't get gouged by the "limited" production status that the Shelby name brings with it.

I can't belive the crap that Shelby is lending his name to. I hold the CS6 and GT-H with higher regaurd than the GT500. Well maybe I'm streching it there but at least there won't be 8,000 of those produced every year. It really should have been called just a cobra. And I could build the Shelby GT my self at home so what make it special? Well I guess I those shelby floor mats will be hard to come by[sm=lame.gif]

RE: 2007 Shelby GT
Are you guys saying that $35,000 is too much for that car? Sorry, I'm not clear on it. Is it because of the modest gains over a stock GT that you say that it's too much? I guess I'm asking because my '06 GT vert stickered over $36,000, although I X-Planned it. So a "Baby Shelby" going for $35K with 25 more HP, better suspension, CAI & engine tune, and gearing--not to mention the Shelby name and Plate which will raise value--and $35 grand sounds like a bargain. To me, anyway...

I think Ford is playing this one smart. Body wise, the Shelby GT has identical bodywork as the California Special but with a different grill. Easy to produce on the current assembly line yet brings in a big big return.
Add a few bolt ons (cai, tune, suspension) and some stripes and you got an instant Shelby. In a way, the Shelby GT might be closer in concept to the original '65/'66 GT-350 then the current GT-500. Looks like a great drivers car.
