I'm Addicted
Ok... Here goes...
Hi, I'm Markus and I too have this same problem... However, I think I might be worse...
It all started waaaaay back in July when I ordered my 07 Mustang GT... Before then I was just a regular guy.. Work, drink some beers with the fellas, play the occasional round of golf with the gang, plan out snowboarding trips for the Winter, and spend time with the lil lady... You know.. normal stuff.. =) Well, ever since that hot Summer day in July.. the day I signed on that dotted line for my new 07 Mustang GT in black with black interior.. ever since that day I have sat here with an uncontrollable anticipation and the only cure to this is both on this Forum and on E-BAY!!!
I admit, I know NOTHING about cars. Yeah, I messed up the guy code on that one.. Ok, I know how to change the oil, change a tire.. You know.. basic stuff.. But ever since this Stang purchase, I almost want a change in my profession. Notice, I still have enough sense to say Almost want to change... See, the transformation has not fully completed. =) But I would love to work on cars and get paid for it.. And this is sad to say coming from a guy who is usally too lazy to change his own oil and just rather pay to get it done..
Now back to the E-BAY addiction.. Well, it's acutally 2-folds.. I come home from work and read all the new postings and see all these pics of this S197 creature all dressed up... All the same creature, yet all soooo very different. When I see these pics, and I see how these mods bring your baby to life.. well, it's only fair that I try my best to dress up my baby.. So, E-Bay I go and see what can be purchased... I should of invested stock in E-Bay and Paypal..
The first thing I purchased was a simple shorty antenna only because I felt the stock one was a little too long for my taste.. Then I thought I'd give the interior a better look with a brushed aluminum kit. Ok, why not get that GT emblem plug to replate that power source plug thingy.. All simple right? Well then came painted Louvers.. then came.. then came.. Lets just say that the other night I realized I had a problem when I read about keeping my black car looking soooo prudy and all...I planned on buying a couple things for washing and waxing.. Well, I ended up spending around $160 on cleaning supplies, waxes, polishes, spray liquid waxes for in between regular waxes.. Man oh Man!!!! That damn Meguiar's is another company I should invest in..
My dealer called me yesterday and told me that my will be able to pick-up on Monday!!! Wooo Hoooo!!!!! What sucks for me is that I have to go on a business trip for that whole week but at least it's here.
Now I only hope that this addiction I have will subside once my car is in my driveway. However, from reading all your posts it doesn't look too promising for me.
Where does it end??? Does it ever end???
I blame all of you!!! [8D]
And I thank all of you!!
All the best...
Markus

The way I "kinda" convinced my wife that the Roush S/C and wheels (about $9K with install) was worth the price was by adding up the total cost of the discounted car + mods (about $36K give or take), and comparing it with the same cost of an Infiniti G35 or something similar. They cost about the same, and you have a car you really like. The Roush warranty provides a bit of comfort too.

you know silencer, my wife thinks as well that i love my car more than her... I tell her honey: "its a different kind of love, it doesnt mean i love you any less." I am totally pushing the edge now with all the mods. I went on to buy some silverstars to hold me over until i buy projectors and she wasnt a big fan of that to say the least. Hmm, Im wondering how to approach the whole SC thing with her? I mean what's an extra 5K right? [sm=devilangel.gif]

I have a confession to make. I bought my car in June and have already dropped thousands of dollars on it. An audio system ($1,000), remote start and alarm ($600), tints ($200), tuner and cold air intake ($700), exhaust ($1,000), floor mats and interior dressup ($200). I thought I was going to stop for awhile, but now I am looking at suspension components ($1,000), headers ($1,000), gears ($500) and I have been browsing SUPERCHARGERS ($6,000!).
Before this, I drove a 180 HP family sedan. Now, my Mustang doesn't feel fast enough. I want it faster. It isn't different enough (way to many Mustangs on the road), so I want it to look different. I love the idea of the Shelby front-end conversion. That's another few thousand. I spend a good hour every night on these damn forums reading, researching, planning....I could drop another eight grand on my car, and I would probably be back on these forums the next night, looking for my next mod.
When does this end? The good news is I am young and single and make good money for my age, but I still feel very irresponsible to be dropping so much money on a car. Some of my friends are married and have houses. I am married too, but to my car.

and you're different than who?
It ends when you run out of space to mod.

This thread really cracks me up. Mainly because it hits so close to home...I am trying every angle to do a Saleen S/C at year end. Even looking at using part of the annual bonus, and possibly selling back unused vacation time, so I can justify in my mind that it really would not impact the ole checking account...

Oh, and the most demonic invention created, in my opinion, is PAYPAL!! Didn't even know about it much until about 3 or 4 months ago....(showing my age) Man, that thing makes it way too easy to impulse buy..

At least before, there was some effort involved with having to get off my butt and go fetch the Credit Card......But now......???
If your wife is not real familiar with s/c's make sure that she knows that there are many factory cars sold with them standard or as a $10,000.00 option (provide examples). Makes you appear less crazy, and be sure to brag about the money your saving by being a smart shoppper!
As Bruce Springsteen pointed out, these are our "glory days"
You are now making the memories for when your new "wheels" are on a wheelchair.
Now get back to work, you don't want lame-*** memories now do you?

I wish I was like you. First of all I would have bought a GT, then I would have been able to mod liek crazy, SLP LM's with H Pipe, high flow cats, trying to make the car as loud and mean as possible. Kenne Bell would be the next step, then everything else. As much as I love my 6, and she's my baby, I find myself constantly talking to the dealers about a possible trade in, or just buying one. I would have in the first place had I had the money. However, I too spend hours on here, lurking, reading, researching, and most important, learning. This place has taught me alot. For now, its modding the 6, she's a looker for sure to say the least, but a GT is really what I'd like. Gosh I hate having no money.
Being young sucks.
Being young sucks.
My husband has spent thousands modding our motorcycle and not much on the Mustang...yet. I think he's afraid if he spends money on the stang its going to end up in a wreck. Funny though...our bike is in the shop for repairs as we had an accident with it in June.
