Why is the mustang so under powered compared to the new GTO and the new Camaro? Why does ford not step it up a couple notches? A GTO whipped my butt tonight. Is this what we have to look forward to?

 

the gto has the same engine as the c6 vette
and the base MSRP is 33k on the gto which is 7K more than the base mustang GT
for that S/C the stang

 

good questions.....my only gripe is that we had no
V8 engine options...

 

True the base price for the gto is more, but that gets them a 100 more hp than us. which we would spend about that much in mods to catch up to that. they get that with no mods.

 

First off, the new GTO isnt that much more powerful, secondly it has a MUCH bigger engine to get that 400 out of. Thirdly, the new Camaro doesnt exist so until it hits production its hp numbers = 0 so we have that beat by quite a bit. GTOs suck honestly.. they have all that hp but still run almost same times as a stock GT. Tisk tisk. And I guarentee Ford will come up with something by the time GM and Dodge finally catch up on the muscle car war. Their chargers suck and the GTO is a joke, the challenger and camaro are their ways of saying "we screwed up and we suck *** so were going to try again".. and Im sure Ford will have something laying in waiting when that day rolls around.

 

imagine how fast the stang would be with the DOHC cammer 5.0 from FRPP

 

that would be nice. i just wish we had a little more to start with.

 

I know how you feel, and totally understand.. they have more to start off with so it feels like they can reach a higher total possibilty.. although Ive heard they respond horribly to mods which is why most of them stay stock.. not sure if thats true or not but it would explain why every single one of them Ive seen was still stock (Ive seen somewhere around 15 now). If it really bothers you that much... you could always replace the stock motor with a built one.. I hear Roush makes a nice 429 ci that makes like 500 some HP N/A.

 

i'll just have to save up for the bolt ons.

 

Don't forget..the GTO is sucking so bad that GM is discontinuing yet another rear wheel drive V8 of theirs, and dropping the price on the remaining GTOs to get rid of them. I think I'll keep what I have..as if there was a question..hahaha
