Default What an unfair comparison...

I know the fellows over at Top Gear love their British cars, but come on...this is an unfair comparison.

Was that a bone stock Mustang GT too? That Lotus prolly didn't way more than 1800 lbs I bet either.
Anyone have any comments?

I went to the Lotus dealer to buy the Elise which is the same car with AC. I just had to have one!! When I showed up (I'm 6'3) the sales man laughed and said let me go take the top off. I couldn't even get in it. And cost wise they are more on the lines of a Vette. Which would most certainly eat it's luch. I'm abousolutly amazed that a bone stock Stang wasn't laped in that short race buy the thing. That little piece has just accelerated my Roush suspention purchase. Where is that credit card????? If stock one was that close a Saleen or Roush probably would have won and been more on the lines of a cost comparason although still cheaper.

lmao i laughed when he said keep up with this and he was bragging about the cyclinders and what not he had and what the stang had. Oh wait he didnt mention that he is sitting in a blown Lotus. LMAO this guy is an idiot. hmm lets put him up againts a ford GT or S7? even then look at the car he is driving its small so of course its going to turn on a dime. I hate how people are picking out the mustang and tearing it to shreds. Oh yeah and donts ford make a car thats gutted like the lotus was with the Optional windows button? oh yes thats right its called the GT-R Mustang. If your going to conduct a test dont put it up againts a Stock Mustang when your in a blown car. At least put it up against something thast the same. god i hate british people. sorry for all the british people out there but get over yourself and your little cars.

I thought the Mustang GT looked pretty respectable. The Lotus Exige is more expensive than even the GT500 (once the ADM disappears), I wonder how a GT500 would have done in that comparison? The Exige was purposely built for the track and doesn't have a single creature comfort.....so it wasn't really a fair comparison to a stock stang GT. I have seen them in action in auto-x and in reality they can smoke stangs on most tracks. You have to have a highly modified stang to compete with an Exige in auto-x.......but that is expected. C6 Vettes still barely hang with an Exige on most tracks......ZO6 is a different story.

Both cars are in a different ballpark. IMHO the stang still is THE best bang for the buck. Where else can you get 300 stock horses for around 26k? Last time I checked the lotus costed nearly twice as much.

Now don't go caveman like: mustang will eat up lotus if you spend that other money on mods. Sure it can, but there are reasons why you drive a mustang instead of a lotus. (one reason would be money).

1: Anything with 4 cilinders sounds like ****e (boxer engines are exempt from this rule)
2: You hate british sports cars (austin martin is owned by ford now right?)
3: Small cars make you feel unsafe.
4: Anything that gets close to 25 mpg city and 30 mpg sickens you.

I do wonder what the GT500 would have done against that lotus. Price wise it's in the same ballpark (msrp).

I dont know what was more painful... listening to some idiot compare 2 cars that are separated by $25,000 or hearing his stupid accent. If he raced a stang with 25K in mods, it would murder that ugly little car. If it makes him feel good to race a car that costs 30,000 less then more power to him, but I for one like to live in reality.

I liked the fact he chose a gt and not a gt-500. He would have gotten smoked by a gt-500. Plus the Mustang just looks so much nicer. That movie really made me respect what a good car the gt is for the money.
