I saw some NOS stickers next to the candy machines at Walmart, but thought that four quarters was a bit too much (relatively speaking to the cost of the pvc and lawnmower filters of course)

And lets not forget the Blow off sound generator for under the hood. Nothing like sounding like your turboed and having the nos sticker say your spraying. You are then a supra killer...

I won't make fun of anybody that tries to fabricate a better mousetrap for their car. I've done it. But that really has nothing to do with the origin of this thread....

I have built my own CAI and had custom ones made, but most ricers don't even understand how the engine managment even works to know how to properly make a CAI. I have seen ones where I was suprised the car even ran with it..

Just look back and you can see alot of the things we did with muscle cars they are now trying on imports. Remember when we would pull the headlight to get direct source of cold air into the intake. Go to the strip and you will see plenty of imports doing the smae now. It just so happens that most of us now don't do those tricks anymore since we now have progressed to better designs to get the extra HP.

Hell look at the custom CAI Justin at VMPTuning used on the GT500, it was able to net him 500rwhp with his custom tune. It was a simple design but worked. The problem with most ricers is that they either try to be to simple or overly complicate things. Like the one 4 banger I saw with must have been 4 feet of tubing for his CAI

It's pretty easy these days to buy a $400 kit that's proven to make HP, but way back when, it was pure imagination and ingenuity that made hot-rods. If you didn't know that, know that, and if you forgot it, don't forget it.

Do those NOS decals really add HP?
Maybe just plumb an oxygen tank into the homemade CAI...instant HP, till everything melts!

You need the right sound to go with the neon lights and wild colors:
