Dont get me wrong Im sure it has things about it that are nice, hell I was going to get one and was set on it for about 6 months. Ask any of my friends and theyll tell you that I lived and breathed the Hemi Charger and Magnum... then I test drove it and was totally let down about the performance and price and then I found out about the new Mustangs and have never looked back.

What's crappy about 425hp - forged internals, sodium filled valves, Brembo brakes, Supercar F1's, coilover suspension, IRS. Okay fine, you don't like, you're a single guy not your cup of tea. The car is far from "crap", and my 13.02 was a really good run, especially since the Mag is heavier, but just about all the guys that run their SRT8's are running mid 13's or better.
Tell you what, I've owned quite a few cars, and the SRT8 and my GT are at the top of my list.

Well then you must have gotten a good one because the Charger I test drove was crap. Wasnt Bsing I was speaking from my personal experience. I personally experienced the drive of one and hated it. Im sure its a great family car and is wonderful when going to the grocery store but Im a single male, I have neither a family to haul around or plan on taking trips to the grocery store. And I saw one at the track and it got nowhere near a 13 flat so... then again "it could have been a really sh*tty driver".

+1, but you got a ghey auto [8D]
Motor Trend's #'s for the 300C
2005 300C
Power 340hp
0-60 mph 6.2
Curb Weight: (lbs) 4,066
Didn't have quarter mile time but did have one for the 350hp Charger R/T @ 14.1
2005 SRT-8
Power 425 hp
0-60 mph 4.9 sec
Quarter mile 13.2 sec @ 108 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph 113 ft
HOWEVER....
Car and Driver got much better results:
"Buried to the carpet, the cast-iron 5.7-liter V-8 sounds just like Petty's old Plymouth (if it had mufflers the size of a milk truck). Posting 5.3 to 60 and 13.9 in the quarter at 102 mph, the 300C runs with Mustangs and 350Zs. It muscles right past anything approaching its size and price, including the 270-hp (and 3480-pound) Acura TL, which is good for 5.7 seconds to 60. It puts the Mercury Marauder on a hauler home to Mama."

HOWEVER....
A later test by Car and Driver of a different car resulted in this:
"We were unable to duplicate our initial 300C test numbers mentioned at the top. This car ran to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds and turned the quarter in 14.4 at 99 mph, significantly slower for no readily apparent reason (same test site, similar test weight). Both were preproduction cars, perhaps with slightly different computer calibrations."

So, maybe he's got a hot car with a great build. But, you should be able to beat him.
BTW, their test results for the SRT-8:
"The SRT8 is a big sedan with 56 cubic feet of front passenger space and 51 in the rear. It isn't light at 4212 pounds, but at just below 10 pounds per horsepower the SRT8 will bust through 60 mph in 4.7 seconds on its way to a 13.2-second quarter-mile at 109 mph."

I don't know... Numbers can only say so much.
My mother owns an Automatic 5.7l HEMI 300c and my sister owns a 2006 GT Mustang stick,
I've driven them both, and I will say that the 5.7HEMI will blow the GT to PIECES,
Now given i've never seen them in a race, and the GT may in fact be faster, but I swear on my Mustang that those 300c's are FAST.

well,
i read a lot of car magazines and car reviews... a lot of times they talk about the subjective "seat of the paints" speed test. That is, how fast the car "feels". I've read numerous times that the Mustang doesn't feel as fast as it is. perception can be deceiving... that's the nice thing about objective computer-timed test results. though perception is important, too, that's where the fun comes from!
