The delay or "Lag" you could be talking about is mostly "hydraulic delay" in the transmission itself. The shift is commanded nearly immediately upon a stomp on the accelerator pedal, but it takes a finite amount of time for the shift to occur. because of the delay in the trans The computer holds off acceleration till the trans shifts, this is to prevent over reving while shifting thus preventing damagee to the trans.
Your trans is already in "first" gear, there is no shifting required from a stop in an auto.

Mine has the lag but it is so intermittant that I don't know if the dealer will ever be able to find it. They told me that I should check back when the problem gets worse. They said that they could do a pressure test for me but then I wouldn't have the vehicle during that time. Well I'm not sure if just a pressure test is covered under warranty. What do you think I should do, will the lag get worse? I'm hoping that if I do have the problem the TSB is for, that it does so I could get it figured out easier. It sucks when you merge onto the freeeway and the car decides to cut out and some lamer in a camry guns it and passes by.
