It's true. The clunk is gone! It's like driving my good old BMW M3 again.
I picked the up the parts today from Local dealer and instantly noticed that there is something different... the whole design is different than the original POS mount.
I decided to discard my Steeda mounts (on sale if you want them, I miss them... would be nice to have camber adjustment) and use the new parts.
I took some pics of the mounts... I'll need to find picture of the old OEM mount for comparison. Point me with a link if you know one.

Pics of Shelby 500 strut mount installation in a stock coupe that didn'tfix spit,Page 23.
Pic of POS strut mount in pieces, page 24 - post #475
Can't find any more.
Looked up through page 54.
I think there was a link somebody posted that showed a few pics of the original coupe bearing vs. the Shelby bearing.
Anyway....................

Yeah, GT500 mount is different... I'll post a pic of the mount later, but in the mount there's stamped text saying 8R3Z.....= gold stud and 5R3Z....=green stub
One more thing to add before pics... these 8R3Z mounts are in Motorcraft genuine accessories box INSTEAD of Ford Genuine Parts boxes.
I dount Ford will ever release TSB on this issue. But 8R3Z mounts do CURE the clunk.

Well the day finally came and I am now an official member of the no-thunking club! I took it out anddrove to every spot that use to thunk andthe noiseis notthere any more!
I had to listen that stupid thunking noise for 4475 miles and now I can enjoy the car the way it should have been when I drove it off the lot. I can take my friends and family for a ride and not have to explain the noise.
Thanks Bascho for the new part number and the heads up!
I wonder how manythat participated in this thread from the beginning, now have their 'Stangs fixed? Add me to the list.
If you have not done it yet.....Get 'r done!
Going for a drive!

Here's few pics of the new revised mounts (8R3Z-18183-B) that I ordered from my dealer on Thursday. Picked them today and while I don't have the POS OEM Mounts (5R.......), but Steeda HD Mounts (which don't cure the clunk) the new ones ARE very different. 1st off, the rubber isolator is much thicker and harder, the overall structure of the mount is much more solid than the OEM one that I recall... and the main upgrades seem to be in the strut shaft bushing, which could be the main point curing the fugly clunking. Notice, that the BOX that these mounts come in is Motorcraft, not Ford Genuine Parts, whixh is weird. Also there's text stamped in top of the mount saiying: 8R33-18183-B = gold stud, 7R3V-18183-A = green stud and the OLD OEM POS part number 5R33-18183-A. Although the part number for this new mount and oem pos mount starts with *R3Z...
Anyway, 7R3V-18183-A mount WITH GREEN STUDS is OEM GT500 Mount and 8R3Z-18183-B that I had and YOU WILL need has GOLD STUDS. Get new nuts from the dealer too when installing these.
These mounts really does the trick. I was driving into every hole bump today and the car drive like my old BMW.

RE: 2007 Front Suspension Thunking Noise
8R3Z Rulz, Got mine replaced last thursday and now my clunker don't clunk no more I think the TSB that is being referred to is the one for the popping noise that was for the 2005's built before April 05. ( My build date is Jan 05 ), If you look at the part list for this TSB the very top part is 5R3Z-18183-A (AKA JUNK ) My new dealership called me and started talking about a TSB for front end noise and immediately I knew what they were talking about, and I told them that I had this done at about 700 miles. So I went to to talk to them about it and the mechanic showed me a list of warranty work that had been done since I bought it and my original dealership had never entered it into the computer that they had done this TSB, So my new dealership was able to claim mine under the TSB. My front end history 0-600 miles Quiet. 600-700 Pop Pop Pop. 700-13,000 Quiet. 13,000-22,000 Thunk/Clunk. 22,000-? Quiet.I want to give a big Thanx out to Bascho, Wolfey, Jay and all others for their persistance in finding the cure for our problem.

Yep, GOLD studs it is. I had to rush out and verify I had the Gold studs. Don't trust my stealership. They ordered only 1 mount to begin with, then I had to wait another week for the part to comein, and then an additional week for them to "sqeeze me in". I was fearfull that they would somehow come up with a green studded monster. Hopefully, those are no longer in the inventory.

RE: 2007 Front Suspension Thunking Noise
I got the paperwork from the garage regarding the thunking corrective action they carried out so, justfor reference, here it is.
The strut mount part number is missing off the invoice and instead is an internal parts reference number (I'd ordered them in myself).
The whole job was under warranty and they had the car 3 hours-ish
