Whoa! Just read here someone's hood blew up over their windshield and they had hood struts! Any comments?
Hood struts or the lack of them have nothing to do with the hood flying open. The struts merely hold the hood in the upright position when opened.

I just installed a set I got off of eBay from Redline Tuning. I am very happy with them.

And as stated here already, they are only to prop the hood open, they do not affect the locking of the closed hood at all.

Hey, Scrambler,
Where did you get those struts?

I visably cringe when someone wants to see the engine because I am embarrassed by that flimsy Toyota hood twig.

I need real struts like a muscle car should have.
You actually have quite a few choices. Here are three of them. I chose the first one due to no drilling for rivets and I didn't like the visual of MRTs. What I like about the Prolifts is they sit low but still hold the hood up higher than the prop rod. The only thing I had to do different with mine is put lock washers where the blots hold the supplied brackets to the hood. After awhile the drivers side bracket would start to turn. I've read of other people having the same issue, but like I said, 2 lock washers and no more problems. I've had them on for over 1 year. Hope this helps....

I have the CDC hood struts too. They were one of the first to come out with them if not the first. They don't require drilling, they are back out of the way and they have a large, cool looking stainless bracket that bolts to the hood to strengthen it at that point. Check out the best right here: http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com...splay/666.html

The show and go plus struts dont work as designed. The brakets turn regardless of how much of the provided double sided tape I used or lock washers. After one of the struts came off and sent one of the little metal clips flying into oblivion I opted to add an additional screw to each side to make them stay put.

I know of 2 mustangs that have had binding issues with theCDC struts. Tweeks the hood. Obviously it's not happening to everybody's , but something to watch for.
