I have the redline tuning struts! I love them and they were aneasy install and very well thought out directions to guide you through the whole process......check your measurements twice and drill only once is the motto here. Actually check as many times as it takes to get the courage to drill a hole into the skin of the hood!

Hey, Scrambler,
Where did you get those struts?

I visably cringe when someone wants to see the engine because I am embarrassed by that flimsy Toyota hood twig.

I need real struts like a muscle car should have.
You actually have quite a few choices. Here are three of them. I chose the first one due to no drilling for rivets and I didn't like the visual of MRTs. What I like about the Prolifts is they sit low but still hold the hood up higher than the prop rod. The only thing I had to do different with mine is put lock washers where the blots hold the supplied brackets to the hood. After awhile the drivers side bracket would start to turn. I've read of other people having the same issue, but like I said, 2 lock washers and no more problems. I've had them on for over 1 year. Hope this helps....

Good hood struts do indeed reduce or eliminate hood shake due to the resistance they put on hood movement. Mine were $84 from Moss Motors, and went in in about 30 minutes (you need a rivet gun though). They are the cheapest, cleanest, most functionally stylistic mod for our cars and ought to come that way from the factory. I highly recommend them to everyone.

Edit: I highly recommend the Moss Motors ones over the rest because of a few factors:
a) most vertical positioning of any on the market
b) lifts the hood on its own from 6in open
c) not linear struts, they are dynamic, applying pressure in the reverse direction when the hood is almost fully open, so it won't slam to the top, but arrives gently
d) unlike the redline and prolifts, they do not take up ANY engine bay room/access
e) hood opens higher than some of the other ones on the market, and about 4-6in higher than the stock post holds it

I do not recommend them if:
a) you have no access to a rivet gun
b) you don't want to drill any holes
c) cost is your primary concern

Got the redlines and they work pretty darn nicely!
