I would stay away from the 3.90, the Motive are crap. only use FFRP gears, I love my 4.10's they cut almost 1 sec off my 1/4 times and as far as my Top End.. well just look, this is the fasted I have gone so far. and there was plenty of room to go yet.

if your installer is more knowlageable then a monkey, then he should have no problem installing gears, THERE ARE NOTHING WRONG WITH MOTIVES IF THEY ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY!!!!!

And on top of that there are other gear manufactures out there that have 3.90 so you are not limited to the Motive Line regardless.

[hr][align=left]i have run 373 ford gears and 390 motive gears. both seem to work fine. when chatting with motive representitives at various events they have suggested to run the backlash on the tight side. i have not tried that yet though.
.......my combo actually went slower with 3.90 gears. felt good on the street and occasionally 1/4 times were better but on average it was slower. go figure.
....... i do have a slight flamefest response to the frrp gear comments, lol. why is it when you buy a new stang everything on it is junk, lol wether it is rims, tires, exhausts, shifter, seats, stereo etc but thier gears are the best lol? bobn

You are correct, "If Installed correctly" is the key phrase, the 3.90 Motives are very finiky and take extra time to install, most installers Hate doing them because they are a pain. My Mustang Shop refuses to install them because they take so much more time to install. They love the FFRP because they are a better quality product.

they are harder, but it shouldnt take that much longer, if they refuse to do them just because they are 3.90s (not that i would ever put those in any of my cars anyways) i would run away from the shop
