is this normal?
Went out of town for the holidays was kinda windy I'd say wind was blowing at 30 to 40 mph. On my road trip I was driving between 90 to 100 mph. Noticed that my hood was shaking like it wanted to pop up. was it the wind contributing? made the trip plenty of times before at this speed but never saw the hood act like that before? Is this normal?

Gotcha didnt notice it shaking till about 100. Do 65 speed limit here where I live and never noticed it before. Will check it out later on today. Anyone else here do those speeds maybe while running the quartermile? Afterburnerdoes your hood start shaking at those speeds?

My Mach 1 hood would shake like crazy over 100, at 150 it made you wonder if it would stay on, it never came up but sure acted like it wanted to, my 06 hood shakes too but not as bad. Hood pins are a good idea for these cars.

The hood shaking is a common (and dangerous) problem. I have read on this forum of the hood flying off and causing a lot of damage. Take it to the dealer immediately - just do not tell them you were going more than 80mph... Hood pins are NOT the answer - this is a very dangerous defect that Ford needs to acknowledge and fix. Good luck.

well if you are heading into 40 mph wind and you are going a 100 thats wind force of 140 mph on the hood latchs. yes that happen to me sometimes but the cross wind is a bit worse and causes the same. Hood pins is one solution if you are wanting to modify.

RE: is this normal?
WRONG!!!!! Hood pins areNOT the solution - just read. Getting Ford to acknowledge the problem and fix it is the answer - they just pay off when someone is seriouly hurt - it costs them less to pay for someone being hurt or killed than to admit there is a problem and issue a recall or even TSB.
Don't listen to those who suggest hood pins - take it to the dealer and tell them you won't take it back until it is safe to drive. God forbid you have children or other loved ones in the car or others driving near you when that hood flies up...
This is not acceptable. (leaks, rattles, etc. are bad enough but this is a safety issue)

Agree, is there a TSB on this, hadn't heard that there was. I adjusted the 4 stops (use a bit of red or blue rtv silicone to test contact) it is common that all 4 are not making contact. One on mine was not at all, two were just barely making any contact. Have only been to 105 once to check this since the adjustment. ..no issues. (was not a windy day however)
I don't know ifI had an issue before the adjustment (had just gotten the car and hadn't been over 75-80 to that point) ...just heard about it here, almost a year ago and figured I'd check the rubber stops.
