Default Strut Tower Brace

I've seen lots of strut tower braces in online stores. Many timesI see in the fine print that some braces will not fit over the stock plenum cover. And other times I see forum pictures with the same strut tower bar and the plenum cover. I want to get the Ford Racing Strut Tower Brace for my 2005 GT. I have the factory Ford plenum cover. Does anyone have experience with these particular parts working together? Just want to avoid buying something that won't fit.

Hey buddy,

I ordered a custom painted plenum cover and the Ford Racing Strut tower brace. Both are high quality components and I loved them. Unfortunately, I tried to make the FR STB fit over the MidWestAutoGear plenum cover and it wasn't happening. It scratched my plenum cover everywhere and forced me to crack it in half out of anger (200 ***** down the tubes). I still have the FR STB on and I love it's quality and look. I do not think the FR STB will fit over any plenum cover on the market right now. Try Steeda, BMR or Granatelli. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up. I think the Ford Strut Tower bar is one of the best looking ones out there. Guess I'll go with the Granatelli/ Blue Oval Industries. That's thesecond best one I've seen. I like the Strange Development one as well.

Two choices that I know work with the factory cover.

I have the single granatelli brace. It is a light, black single bar that looks perfectly factory. It clears the cover by a mile once you lower the rear of the cover down by following their instructions. It lightlygrazes the hood pad, nothing major. It is a 50 dollar parts for the mustang source members. I felt a small difference with it installed.

The other bar that fits is the strange development bar. But. Because it does not flatten out in the middle, it hits the hood padpretty hard. And it is a couple hundred dollars. But looks pretty.

Those are the only two I can comment on.

Oh, I almost forgot. I had a granatelli polished stainlessdouble brace here that I test fitted with the cover (it was shipped to me by accident). There is no way in my opinion that the double will work from them with the cover.

I have the Midwest Plenum cover and a Steeda tower brace. The guys @ "Best in Show" put it together for me. They took a dremel tool and ground the vent top directly over where the brace went. Did good!
