Underdrive pulley install problems

RE: Underdrive pulley install problems
No,DON'T shave down the pulleys!!! Especially the one on the bottom. That is your harmonic balancer and if you grind any of it off, you will throw it out of balance and cause all kinds of problems.
The harmonic balancer should not wobble at all when the engine is running. It should be 100% true. Use a harmonic balancer installation tool to make sure it goes on straight. Autozone will lend them to you for free with a reasonable/rfundable deposit.

I used a crankshaft press to install the crank pulley. It is critical it goes on straight.
Here's a write up on how to do it.

The one thing that got me real bad was the bolt on the alternator. I did not notice that the belt was so close to the bolt and when I started the engine, it ripped the belt to shreds. Unfortunately, the UDP I purchased did not come with any instructions. nothing like learning from your mistakes.

yea, stoenr, that's the one. I wish I had noticed it before I started the engine. It only took 30 seconds to shave it down with a dremmel and cutting wheel.
That's a great picture. What did you use for lighting?
