UDP - What puller do I need
Hello,
just got my UDP's in the mail today and just needed to know what puller to go rent fromAuto Zone,my UDP's didn't come with any instructions or info so i'm not sure what they recommend. Also I didn't get any new bolts has anybody had any problems reusing the old ones?
Thanks,

It's the Chrysler style puller and no you can't reuse the bolts. You need a shorter one for the pulley and alternator. At least I did with my Steeda UDP's, but they came with them.
I got mine from Advance Auto. I had to pay something along the lines of $90-$100 to "rent" the tool, but when I returned it all the money was deposited back into my account. So it was free. Ask them for a harmonic balancer puller. If they have more then one, look at the selection. You want the one with three prongs. It's actually very easy to do (I have a manual, so not sure about the auto guys.) but I made a few mistakes along the way.. if I had to do it again it would be a breeze to do.
The search utility is your friend!

I've seen these at Napa, Auto Zone, and OReilly, but they all carry different brands of tools, so their part numbers wouldn't be consistent. It's a common item though. Any auto parts store should have it.
Usually they have a poster or a "mat" at the counter that has pictures of all the tools on it. Find the picture, point at it, and tell them that's what you want to borrow.

I used the Chrysler puller and I got it for free from Autozone with a reasonable deposit. It took me three or four trips back and forth untill I got all the right tools. I took the time to write up about my experience so others could learn from my mistakes. If you read my how to, it might save you quite a bit of time.

I bought the Moto Blue. It came with a nice billet idler and the two pulleys. That was it. This kit makes you re-use all of the original bolts. I've installed the Steeda on a friend's car and aside from the extra bolt on the Steeda kit and no idler pulley, there wasn't much of a difference. I've had mine installed for over a year and I'm happy with them. The perfrmance gain was immediate and it did not require a tune.
