is there something that i can do to make the dome light NOT come on when i open the door after the car is turned off........i like my privacy at night and dont want people seeing me looking for my wallet..phone etc after i open the door..i find it very annoying

Rewire the electrical system. It's something you can't just turn off, to my knowledge.

I beleive that's not an option on our cars; we miss it too. My Suburban and my wife'sHonda have "dome light overide" switches that allow us to open the doors at night and keep the lights off.....quite handy if you don't want to wake sleeping passengers.

Somehow my kids can sleep even through the FRPP racket.

Also, on the 'vert, the light is on the mirror so it's not really bright enough to disturb back seat sleepers....

If it's that big of deal, just take the bulbs out

i could care less if i woke somebody up....i just live in a shady area at the moment and dont want any jigaboos checking me out or staring at my gf as we exit the car....sometimes i put away my ipod or cell phone or whatever.....maybe ill just get some electrical tape and cardboard to cover them up.....dont wanna take em out cause i use it while driving
