people like me and doodad with the 17" wheels are running faster times at the track stock...and i have the 65lb shaker 1000! running 13.4xx...while 18" people are running 13.5 - 13.6 at best, usually slower...no doubt they are lighter and faster.

I have a set of the 17 in split spokes with tires. I pulled the off the car at the dealership. If anyone is interested PM me. I will make you a good deal on them.

I too like the look of the upgraded 17" wheels - although it would have been nice to have a different tire size. Has anyone upgraded their tires to something other than 55 series all season tires? 235/55-17 - I'd like to see a 245/50 or 255/50instead...I'm looking at replacing the Pirelli's but want to keep the overall diameter similar - the 245/50 is about an inch smaller on average and according to Toyo's page would be about 691 revs/mile vs. 664 revs/mile on the stock size. Can you account for this much size difference with an SCT tuner? I'd love to see some pics of different size tires on stock 17" rims if anyone has them....

Weight of the wheels are the factor when considering rotating mass. The same principle applys to wheels as it does to driveshafts. The heavier the driveshaft, the more HP it takes to rotate its mass. That is why there is HP gains when going with a lighter driveshaft like a carbon fiber. (which is what my next major mod will be) More rotating mass = less HP to the tires.

with a taller rim, you can also go wider - some people want fatter meat out back
I have pretty wide 17s on rear

Dayammm forensicsteve, that is oneTALL cowl. How high is it? Where didyou get that? Can you see over it? Is it open in front, by the windshield. Do you have problems with birds flying into it or small animalshiding in it? Looks OK though. :-) Do you like it alot?
