You can wax your car now. The reason is your paint was baked on before all the interior and other parts of the car were put in allowing ford to bake it at a higher temp. that a body shop wold be able to if you had it repainted or stripes added etc. Aftermarket paint uses way less heat to bake the finish and therefore you have to give it a couple months to fully cure and release all the chemicals. What is really going to puzzle everyone is When you get your car painted aftermarket wise they wait a couple days usually and then sand and buff the car using polishes and such and some guys throw the wax on right away other will say to wait a few weeks..

As for what kind. That's like asking which oil is best. It is all personal choice. I will say it's hard to beta Meguiars for the OTC products. I use Poorboys, however i used the Meg's for almost 20 years. The Poorboys in my opinion gives the same or better results with way way less work.

The dealer waxed mine when I took delivery...I definitely would not wait a year,I use Malco Flash liquid wax. It's an easy on/off application and can do the entire car in 10-15 minutes. Between waxes I use Mequires quick detail after washes.

Hi Triple T

We don't really "wax" our cars anymore - we polish the clearcoat.

No need to wait. Zaino and Adams products are very good. Clay bar - then polish.

I think it's http://www.zainostore.com

Yeah I agree with wax it immediately. My dealer told me to wait 30 days, but that's old school. I use Zaino. Whatever you use, I recommend you clay bar the car first. Then put your wax of choice over it. You get the best results.

Base coat / clear coat is a "user/owner friendly" finish. IMHO, I dearly love TURTLE WAX ICE and detailer, it goes on everywhere..... will not "stain/mark" vinyl, plastic, trim... clear plastic etc.
I use it on my tires, paint, interior etc...
I'm sure there are other opinions / suggestions / recommendations regarding this. BUT, I love my TWI over anything else on the market, follow up with a California Duster, and life is GOOD for you, and your MUSTANG.

Claybar, etc... will be needed eventually..... but use what I recommend, and the "other" stuff is at least 18 months away.

Sorry to say but you need to either wax or apply a sealant all the polish does is make the car shine and remove swirls and scratches. You still need a wax or sealant to protect the finish. And Adam's is way over priced. You can buy all his products in a better form right from his supplier.

Also claying the car would be the very first step i took after washing of course. Right now you have rail dust and other industrial fallout in the paint and it needs to be removed prior to applying any type of wax or polish etc...

My car came off the train then onto the truck to the dealer and then off the truck and to my house with all the packing still on as i would not allow the dealer to detail it or take off the wrapping and my car was covered with rail dust that i had to remove with the clay bar. My paint also had many paint flaws right from the factory that i had to repair. The factory polished some flaws and left major hologramming in the finish which i had to repair.

I've got about 10 coats of "polish" on now and the finish just keeps getting deeper.

Edit - Zaino has a Flash Cure activator that prepares the clear coat for their polish.

I've bought every car wax that walmart sells. Never again. Blackfire Wet Diamond looks better than NXT and wipes off like water.

You do not have 10 coats of polish on. When you use a Polish it goes on to rmeove defects and then when you take it off it is gone. Also putting 10 coats of wax on is pointless and wastefull. But it;s cool you do what you think is best aftwer all it is your car and your money. I am just trying to help is all.

Polish - A specially formulated blend of components designed to remove minor scratches, surface imperfections, water spots, acid rain spots, light oxidation, and the swirl marks created by compounding with a machine. Use a foam polishing pad or a fine cutting pad.
